Easy set up.
Great little tent! Easy set up. I like that the pole assembly is all one piece. No threading poles over other poles, with the back and forth. Easy 1 person task. Tight space for 2 adults, but it is a backpackers tent. Not a lounger. It fits my kid and I easily, and we've had several trips out. Stiching holds up well, pole elastic is still strong. We have yet to encounter rain, but with how it all feels now, I doubt it would fail us. Enjoy!

WANDELEN: A COMPANY THAT CARES
I purchased this Appalachian 2 tent by Wandelen from Amazon as a lighter weight backpacking alternative to my trusty Kelty 2 person tent that Ive had and used countlesss times over the last 25 years. This tent is of similar design to my trusted regular, (and at 3 pounds lighter!), I thought Id take a chance on it. The price was so reasonable compared to others of similar design on the market, despite mixed reviews on amazon, from what I could tell overall, the odds seemed favorable. I was very pleased to receive it within a couple of days and found it well packaged. At my first attempt to erect it in my basement I found the directions simple, and intuitive by design. It set up easily in just a few minutes. I love that it includes its own perfectly sized ground cloth that ties in with the rest of the set up of the tent. It also includes a fantastic powerful little rechargeable lantern that weighs next to nothing. Maybe an ounce? The first weekend setting it up in the field on a short weekend camping trip which was a dry run for a planned upcoming backpacking adventure revealed a problem. After initial setup, when closing the rainfly the zipper split in the middle and the zipper itself came off of the zipper tape. That was a bit of a pain but we were able to improvise and adapt and were lucky that it didnt rain. Despite that set back and my disappointment that upon its first field trial there was a failure we made do and the rest of the tent had no issues at all. NOW BEFORE CONTINUING FURTHER WITH THIS REVIEW I MUST TELL YOU THIS; that after our camping trip I reported the problem with the rainfly zipper directly to Wandelen and within a day received an email saying how sorry they were for the failure and that they wanted to make things right for me as their customer by immediately sending me a replacement. Not just a new rainfly as I had requested, but an entirely NEW TENT!!! I cannot say enough good things about how I well I was treated by this company. The gentleman by the name of Jonathan who I was in contact with was so professional and courteous in multiple email correspondence. In this day and age it is refreshing to find a company with people who truly care abut their customers the way this company and its employees do. He told me they were express shipping me a new unit and it would arrive within two days which it did. Thank you Jonathan and Wandelen for being a company that backs up its product and cares about their customers as if they were family!! Now, back to the review: I was pleasantly surprised all around by the overall performance of the tent from the ample space there was for two people (I'm 5'9" and my wife is 5'8") and our sleeping matts, pillows, and some of our gear to the door zipper operation, the built in vent, and the fact that it has so much screen for star gazing. The tent is very well designed and you can tell it was designed for backpakers by backpackers. The only thing I would change about this tent is the amount of vestibule space available. It was not big enough for both of our backpacks. We could only just get one within it and with barely enough room to get past it if we had to get up in the night. Its really just meant for smaller items such as boots, or shoes. So be sure to pack a rain cover for your pack when using this tent. It would be great if in future iterations of this tent they could make the vestibule a bit longer to the front and with closer coverage to the ground. In any case I will defintely be using the new tent on future backpacking trips and will update when Ive tried out the new rainfly on the new tent! Thank you again Wandelen!! Well done! Customer service done right!

Excellent product! Lightweight, easy to mount and unmount, high quality and affordable price
I am amazed by this tent! I decided to unpackage immediately after I received it and try it out. First thing I noticed is that is it very lightweight and comparing the costs of other ultralight tents, this one is really affordable and exceeds my expectations weight vs cost. When I started to take out the tent out of its bag, I noticed that it was very easy and fast since its design with compression straps helps a lot to unpack and pack back-in compared to the stuffed bags version. I mounted the tent on my backyard and I didn’t need the help of anyone! I was able to mount it in less that 5 minutes without reading the instructions, which btw, it took me almost the same time to find it hahahaha… it is sown to the bag (instructions) 😊 The materials at touch have a resistant and durable feeling, all the seams are double taped and the stakes and poles are solid. I used a rock to bury the stakes in the ground and they did not bend. Overall, I am impressed and very happy of my purchase, recommend 100% quality vs value and I hope the provider brings up more products! I forgot to mention that it includes a free lamp which is a nice touch. Highly recommended!!!

Wandelen: first class support
I purchase 2 of the Appalachian 2 tents for a 6 night Backpacking excursion in the rugged Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia with my son. When I first received the tents we setup both of them in my garage and I was pleased with the apparent quality of the tents and the ease of setup. I really like the extra ground cloth under the tent body. The packability of the tent is excellent. We used these tents on very hilly terrain and they performed very well. We had one night of very substantial rain falls and stayed completely dry. When setup properly these tents do a very good job of shedding water. I even left items under the awning and they stayed dry. On the last night we did have a failure with both tents. The tent pole connector wouldn’t hold the tent pole under tension and the other tent developed a rip in the corner of the tent body where the poles connect. When I returned on a Sunday I emailed Wandelen about the failure of their product. Surprisingly within 3 hours I had a response from Johnathan and within 4 days I received 2 new tents. I high recommend this company’s product. They back up their product and that is something not everyone does any more.

Lightweight tent for backpacking
Took this tent on the Superior Hiking trail. It performed beautifully. It is lightweight, durable in high winds and rain, and sets up in less than 5 minutes. I set up and tore down this tent over 30 times with no issues. It is perfect for one person and a backpack. If you are looking for a tent that will keep you warm in cooler temps and dry, this tent works very well.

Poor quality item
My son is a Geology major and flew out to spend a month in the Rockies for research. I purchased this tent based on reviews, so I am rather upset that the kid got out there and at 8,000 ft elevation currently only to find out that the red pole part that holds up the tent is stripped and will not stay connected! So my 20 yr old kid is without a tent! This is a mother's nightmare. We unpacked all of it before he left to make sure everything was in there but never anticipated this! Thankfully he was able to get the fellow researchers to help get him another one for his time there.

Stood up to lots of rain, high wind and finally snow.
Likes: Seams are all taped (as they should be). Zippers worked smoothly. Tent came with a foot print and a bonus ,small, rechargeable light. I set the tent up to rain test. I did guy out all of the guy lines for wind. We got around 1 inch of rain. No leaks at all! I left the tent up and it stood up to high winds (40 to 50 MPH with house blocking around half of the wind, so maybe 20+ MPH winds). The rain turned to snow during the night (about 1 1/2 inches of snow) coating the tent. The tent held up well to all of that! Still no leaks anywhere & no damage to the tent. The weather was almost 4-season weather. Dislikes: Came with good-quality stakes, but needed 2 more to completely guy the tent out. Listed as 2-person, but that would be very tight, but doable for 2 smaller people. 1 person and a medium dog, yes. A really tall person would probably find the tent too short. Overall: The tent is a good value.

Narrow space
This goes together quickly and easily with 1 pole unit . It is an A frame tent with a wide base. The problem we had was the sides cut in so severely it lays across you as you sleep. The only real usable space is in the middle so not at all spacious even for a backpacking tent. My other BP tents are small but inside feel wider . It also is extremely musty smelling which is odd.
