Jensen's Format Writing Paperback – October 3, 2016

This is an excellent resource for those who choose to home school. There is guidance for the teacher in regards to planning and grading. There are check sheets for all forms of writing, and there are even a few tests. The assignments are well laid out. The book is written to the student so it is appropriate for those who are self -motivated. The explanations and instructions for each writing assignment are clear and concise. The examples given are helpful. The book starts out with various paragraph forms and then progresses to essays and major papers. Various types of essays such as comparison, process, and analogy, are covered. Each type of essay and each type of paragraph has its own outline of steps. This is helpful to keep students on track for success. Business writing - including resumes, cover letters, and complaint letters - is covered. Fiction, historical fiction, and biography book reviews are also covered. It's one of those books I wish I had found earlier. I am in the early stages of using this book, but I am impressed with how it is laid out. My experience so far leaves me feeling very comfortable and confident that this was a good purchase to make. Ihighly recommend it.

I am entering my 23rd year of homeschooling my eight children! Yikes! I am forever looking for an easier way to teach writing skills--- especially to boys. This book gives a format to follow in just about any type of writing assignment they will encounter in high school and college. Mr. Jensen takes the students step by step through a process that will give them confidence in their ability to organize their thoughts on paper. This is the type of book that should be kept in one's treasured library for future reference. The CD is also helpful as an adjunct to the written material.

This text is a great resource for teaching basics in clear concise language.I would recommend it to teachers looking for a texts to reinforce skills or re-teach lost skills.

I have used this book with all my children when they reached high school. I think it is a good straight forward approach to writing papers. It does not include creative writing which is a whole different thing.
