I enjoyed this Star Wars book very much. There are some gems in here, that is for sure. It's a great collection of short stories from up and coming authors who would soon make it big time writing future Star Wars novels. Because the characters are all present in the cantina at one point or another during the episode: A New Hope, there can't be as much complex character development as one would wish for. Partly because A) this is a short story format and B) the objective of each story is to contribute to the interconnectedness of the entire novel.What's nice (or not so nice) is that these stories offer you perspectives and connected stories about the characters in the cantina. Some authors reveal hidden facts about the story you read one or two chapters ago that other authors wrote. It's rather quite cool. Other authors don't really spend too much effort tying in their story in a unique and interesting way, but then again, you don't see any star wars novels made by them for very long. All in all, a very rare and interesting look at some famous background characters which is a nice change of pace.

This is an excellent collection of short stories, it meet my expectations and a lot more. I am alost done with it I have one story left and part of another to complete. Once you get started reading this book you will not want to put it down. It goes more in depth of the characters from the cantina, and each has great story. I would recommend this Star Wars collection to anyone who loves to read; especially to those die hard Star Wars fans that want to be taken to a galaxy far away.THX,Kris L. CocKayne
