Q: How big are the openings

I bought this because of the previous answer. I got the scoop today and the openings are definitely closer to 1/2“ (12.7mm). Super wide for sifting quickly it says.

Q: Does this work for pine pellets later?

I have used on pellets not to huge of a problem. This is the best and last scoop I will buy.

Q: What is the spacing between each of the 'bars'? I would like to use this for pellets but the unused ones might be small enough to fall through

I dont think it would work for small pellets personally. I think they would fall out no matter what if they are small. Just eye balling it I think the bars on the bottom are maybe like a centimeter apart, the ones on the sides are maybe like half an inch big.
