Great with a school-aged child, very flexible
RPG's are invading my house!I really appreciate that the rolls in this game are very straightforward and even Level 1 kitties can do stuff. So if you're not an expert DM, you can dive right in, assign difficulties to things (pro tip: it's usually 4) and get reasonably well balanced results. By contrast, I feel like you need either really deep knowledge or a great cheat sheet for some other games.I like the River City sourcebook that comes in the box. I bought it because I thought my 8-year-old would enjoy it and I didn't want to unbox it without her. So we immediately made kitties (the comic book intro helps) and I had maybe a few minutes to review some of the rules and the sourcebook before she said we needed to play. The rules have a good starting out suggestion - maybe the kitties come to town from somewhere else and need to find their humans. Ok... We had a good first adventure just addressing that and then noticing a color-changing house in the neighborhood. The character sheets are good, and have rules cheat sheets on the back. The longer rule book talks about how to set up compelling scenarios so the kitties can Save the Day. There are some good suggestions for getting players to actually interact with the adventure, how adults can make kitties that don't take over, etc. There's a pre-written adventure in the source book too. I think these may be best thought of as examples of the kind of plotline that might happen, since players frequently want to do something other than what the adventure assumes they'll do. It's poignant and sweet and child appropriate, but I think we'll get more mileage out of the rest of River City.

I cant figure out how to play
I think this is a very hard game to learn for someone who has never done and RPG and for someone whos family is not really into it. I bought this game because I would like to get into RPG games and this one looks like fun, also something I can take with me and play with the kiddos that I babysit sometimes. But even as an adult it was hard to learn. There are so many things you can do and so much to read. I tried to look up game play videos with no luck. I gave it five stars though because I think I just need to find the right person help me learn the game

So fun to incorporate kids into DnD
My husband and I play D and D and our son wanted to play too. He's 8 and this was such a fun time. We will play it often.

Super fun and well made!
What a fantastic game! It’s like d&d, but with cats! Easy to play and, with so many story options, it can be enjoyed over and over. The creativity that has gone into this game blows my mind. Totally worth it! So much fun!!!
