This is an excellent product. There are a number of small, solar lamps on the market, but this is the best. It charges quickly on a sunny and even a partly cloudy day, it has three light settings with the highest setting throwing a pretty strong light given the size of the lamp, it's rugged and well-made, and it can be broken down to put in a backpack or to use as either a fixed lamp, tent light, or flash light. It may cost a little more than similar products, but you're getting a quality product. I don't mind paying a bit more because Greenlight Planet is in the business of making and selling these lights in developing countries and I believe sales of these lamps in developed countries helps the company keep the costs very low in places in India and African countries, where solar lamps are a reliable and far more inexpensive and healthy alternative to using kerosene lanterns. It never worked. Used it to hang another light made by Sun Energy when I charge it on my window sill or use it on my desk. I called the seller once and the discussion did not lead to a satisfactory outcome since I ordered it twice due to a theft of the first delivery. Hopefully the first one is working for someone.

Just got 3 Ecos and they provide a spot of light where ever I need one, and then I just plop it where it gets some sun to recharge itself. Nice for a walk, or writing a note at night, or just keeping track of your dreams. It's like a little personal light that goes where I go. Low profile. Like.

sometimes does not hold a charge

This review is for all three types of the Sun King lamps. I just received them last week and so far so good!First off, all three charged super easily with the sunlight coming in my kitchen window. The pro version charged my BlackBerry up, which is great as I don't have to hunt for an open outlet somewhere in my house now. I was worried it wouldn't fit my model, but there were a few included. The Solo and Eco models are just as cool for what they are supposed to do...charge and light up!Super easy to set up, super useful. I put the Eco in my car for emergencies and will be using the Solo in the backyard for extra lighting on my staircase that is a too dark at night when guests are over. I'm excited my friend told me about solar. If you are looking for solar lamps, you have to try these out!

I ordered this for an emergency light to use for power failures and hurricanes.There was only one photo at the time I ordered it. and it had great reviews. Now there are several photos. I would not have ordered it had it been described completely. It has a separate solar panel that attached to the light with a cord. I was not expecting that. The photo did not show it. I wanted a one piece unit, except for the stand. Without further photos or description, it appeared that the solar cell was on the back of the unit.It does provide a good strong light. But the instructions are very poor. Nothing blinks. I can't figure out what is supposed to blink. I don't know if the solar panel charge alone, then transfer to the light, or if they have to be connected first. There is no information. I just found a customer video that shows how to connect it. Shouldn't the mfg provide good instructions and description?The light had power when it arrived, and I was able to read at night in low power. I like its portability and its ability to use as a flashlight. With kids in the house, a two piece unit like this is too tempting for kids to play with, lose the pieces and cause it to not operate at all. If you have no kids who would get into this while charging. It would be very useful.

This is the smallest of the three models, but it gets the job done. I was actually able to fit neatly in the front pocket of my backpack, like one of the smallest pockets available. I kept the light connected and drew the cord and hooked the solar panel to my backpack while hiking. It got the job done as that charge kept the light going throughout the night.As I mentioned previously, this is the smallest unit and obviously the least bright; so if you want something stronger, I would recommend going with at least the solo. Overall, a solid unit and at this price, I am thinking about purchasing a handful for my Secret Santa gifts this year!

This light is a joke. It only will put out maximum lumens on a overcast day when the sun is striking the panel. When you need the light at night it uses the minimum lumens output. Buy the d.light instead.

an excellent solar lamp/torch.

This is a very good product. It's simple, portable and easy to use. Gives bright light to my room, during the power cut in Kerala. I'll recommend it to my friends and relatives also. I think we should convert to solar energy to save our planet.Note: I received the product on 11.06.2014 with best condition.It's shown that the light blink during charging. But I hadn't notice it yet. Is this is a problem or the Blink feature is only available in direct sun light?BRIJESH EP

This item failed to work after the first charging It is faulty in some way and Amazon should not be selling this without independently checking it’s reliability.

I was looking for a night light that did not need to be plugged in to the electric supply, so I bought this product.It took almost 3 days to get fully charged (in extremely sunny conditions; I live in the hot gangetic plains). You can use it even if it is not fully charged. It has three light settings; the first one is okay for night light and will work for 30 hours straight without needing a recharge; the second setting is medium light; the third setting is the brightest and can be used as a table lamp or desk light for reading, writing, and doing such other tasks.All in all, an extremely satisfying product for this price, given that I live in a state that has perennial powercuts.

The light was not working after 2 days. The pannel is OK but the the light is not functioning. Is ther any warranty on the product?
