Recognize animal tracks and signs; master a variety of wood and steel traps, snares, deadfalls, and pens; mix your own animal scents; skin, stretch, cure, and tan hides, learn how to trap every animal imaginable; and more! A collection of tips, tactics, and anecdotes from the finest trappers the United States has ever seen, The Trapper’s Bible is an essential reference guide for hunters, trappers, and historians. Taken directly from some of the upmost authorities on the trapping profession, hundreds of photos and illustrations adorn this fascinating compendium. Here are details on a wide variety of different traps and extensive information outlining the behavior and nature of a long list of animals commonly hunted and trapped: Deer and moose Muskrat, and beaver Wolf, coyote, and fox Black bear and grizzly bear. Raccoon and rabbit Skunk, weasel, and woodchuck And much more! The Trapper’s Bible offers the best of the best. It’s an amazing collection of hard-to-find information and an informative look into life as a trapper. Review: a solid book, though a tad outdated, still informative. - This was a good book that taught a lot of practical advice about trapping and catching various furred animals and such. The biology was a bit off in a few places, mostly in regards to broad animal behavior such as characterizing lions as preferring human meat and so on or not understanding why weasels are so aggressive. However, I have no doubts that if someone wanted these furs, or needed to know how to process them, they could do so using the tips in this guide and that is where it shines: the practical areas. The downside is a lot of this is cobbled together with exerpts from various legendary trappers of a century ago or more and as a lot of them were very good at what they did, you get some repetition. All in all though, a book I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to learn how practical trapping works. Review: Visually explains as well as written - Got this for my son who is interested into getting into trapping. Love how it explains everything written o it. But it also has pictures so you can get a visual of what it is talking about. He is able to understand it. And follow along visually. So he can get better at trapping

It works
I live in a remote area in Kentucky. We have coyotes , bobcats and black bear that are hell on chickens, goats and domestic cats. I bought this book for my neighbor, who literally trapped a coyote within a few days. Good quality book and good info.

Good illustrations, pretty darn sexist though
So, there is much I enjoy about this book, maybe most prominently the detailed illustrations, some of which have been taken from much older books, as well as a very detailed breakdown on the kind of tooth/spring traps available for purchase. However, for an edition published in 2012 this book is startlingly sexist. This book very much doubles down on the "trapping creates real men" ideology, and hews to a very specific idea of why people trap, that seems overly concerned with having male genitalia. As a woman attempting to teach myself various outdoor survival skills this book was not only jarring, but actively off-putting. This review might only resonate for a small number of other buyers, but I hope there are better, more inclusive resources available, or if not, there's a potential business opportunity.

Für Fallensteller nicht empfehlen
Viele schlechte Bilder. Der Mechanismus ist oft nur zu erahnen.
