Byrna makes good products and my buddy turned me onto this little "screech machine". You pull the ringed cap off and it instantly alarms quite loudly. I was expecting it to be louder honestly so that's my only downside. But it still hurts your ears and it will startle the daylights out of anyone. Gave it to my wife and she has it attached to her purse with the included carabiner. Now if she senses trouble she can pull it with a simple move and it will start screaming. Good first line of self defense.

I feel lot better piece of mind having this with me. I just hang it on my handbag. Once separated, it does sound very loud. But, oh man! The longer you leave it detached, the louder it gets. Unbelievable! Certainly thrilled with my purchase and can’t recommend enough. Bought my mother one, too. I think these make great gifts for any woman in your life!

It's loud and the flashes are eye catching. Definitely works well and would make you feel so much safer just having one with you. My only complaint is the color. I had ordered the green one to gift a friend because she loves dark foresty-green, but when it arrived it was more of a light mint green. Still usable and ok, but was quite disappointed it didn't look anything like the color shown in the picture.

I bought this so my lady would have some peace of mind walking to her car at night… this is absolute trash. They advertise 130db, it’s nowhere close to that. If your hand is covering the speaker you can hardly hear a muffled noise. You’d have to be within a few feet for this to be effective. It isn’t stopping or deterring anyone. Very disappointed in this deceptive marketing. People are buying these to feel safe, but idk how anyone would feel safer when the ringing on my iPhone is louder. Save your hard earned money and buy a mace or even better buy something that throws hot lead lol.
