A Must Have for Cold Rides!
When the weather starts to get cold, many riders put their bikes in storage and dream of the day they can get back out on the open road. I'm here to tell you that you don't have to be one of those people! These gloves are an integral part of my Cold Weather Gear. They're of Gauntlet style, meaning the extend over and above your wrists to keep them warm, and help keep the wind from getting down inside of them. Inside, they boast 100 grams of Thinsulate to help keep the heat in, and they're made of very nice, durable leather. There's a fine balance at work here. The insulation keeps your hands warm, but there's also ventilation to keep them from getting TOO warm and causing your hands to sweat, which would in turn make them colder. Your knuckles are protected by a shell in the event of a crash, and the leather construction will keep them from shredding too easily. In my experience with these, they work best between 35 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Below 35 and you start to feel the cold. It's bearable for a while, but on a longer ride, your hands are definitely going to start to go numb. Above 45 and you're reach temperatures where these are too warm, and the ventilation won't be able to keep your hands from sweating, which is uncomfortable, and also subjects them to becoming cold.An important thing to note is that, because these are insulated and made on the thicker, more durable side, you do lose a bit of mobility in your fingers when compared to regular riding gloves. Operating the clutch and brake levers is still easily managed, but I found myself to be a little "choppy" with the throttle at times due to a lack of "responsive feel" because of the thickness of the gloves. Using my turn signals is also a challenge with these gloves on.All in all, they are worth the money, as they do what they claim to, and they do it well. They keep you riding for longer before you have to store your bike for the Winter. That said, they aren't perfect, so don't expect them to be.

At/above 45 mph, 45 degree F will probably the lowest temperature you can ride.
Break in: I have been wearing it for about 5 days with total 12 hrs of riding. I think it takes about 10 hrs to break in.Size: Cortech Men's Scarab 2.0 is smaller/tighter than Dainese Carbon D1 Short.Fit: It is on the tight side for me. Dainse Caborn D1 short is more comfy fit to me.Temp.: This is the most puzzling thing to me. I bought Cortech Men's Scarab 2.0 mainaly because some reviewers claim they can ride with these gloves at 36 degree (some even claim, it was possible even at 24 degree F). I live in Chicago and tried these gloves at 42 F - up to 65 F in the past 5 days and I can tell you that you surely feel the chills/quite cold at below 50 F. For the city commute with low speed (30-35 mphs), it is NOT a numbing painful cold or anything, but you can definitely feel the discomfort quite a bit at 45 F. For high speed (> 45 mph), 50 F is probably the lowest temp. I would ride with these gloves. I felt a bit warm at above 62 degree, I do not think I would feel comfortable over 70 F with these gloves. I think 50-65 degree F is most ideal range of temp. for Cortech Men's Scarab 2.0.Protection: It is NOT as good as my Dainse gloves, but I think it is not that bad. Conclusion: For the price, I think it is worth getting Cortech Men's Scarab 2.0.Conclusion:

Great Protection, Waterproof
I am wearing these gloves around the house to break them in.. at 72 degrees my hands don't sweat. I thought the fingers were bit too long but after a few hours of wearing them they fit perfectly. They should be a somewhat uncomfortable before breaking them in... Leather does stretch. I tried wearing them in 84 degrees while riding and they were too warm and made my hands sweat. The temperatures don't go lower then the 60s so cold weather protection can't be tested. They feel like they will be adequate at 40 degrees. Which is about daytime riding conditions for a lot of northern California winters. Riding with black ice around is something I try to avoid. The insulation will tend to come out when removing gloves; an easy fix is to take them off by the fingers. Squeeze and pull. The protection that was the main reason for buying these gloves. They are full premium leather with armor protection for back of the hand. Being waterproof is an added benefit. I have tried other more comfortable gloves but I couldn't imagine sliding down the road with them. Stitching is very important. I have a pair of Scorpion summer gloves that I are tight and comfortable with about the same protection. I love them.I bought them at Amazon Warehouse, like new, for a very good price. Getting good protection in the motorcycle world is pricey. After searching these were the best gloves at a high but affordable price. An excellent buy.

Good gloves for the money, not for 40’s and below.
Bought these gloves to ride between Charleston, SC and Jacksonville, FL this winter and too and from work. Nicely done glove, packaging was simple plastic bag and they look great but not for cold weather as advertised. I was in 40 degree weather (avg temp that morning was 43 in Charleston, SC) doing 55-60 mph on the way to work for about half hour and my fingertips felt like they were frost bitten. I’ll give them a 4 star because they’re nice gloves and if it’s going to stay in the 50’s-60’s they should be fine. I’m assuming if you’re using them for anything below 40’s then you’d have heated grips and the whole works. As far as the gloves feel it’s amazing feels nice when you put them on. No break in period needed, just put them on and ride. I’d buy them again if I were to stay in FL maybe for as low as 50’s to ride with. Since it’s Florida and it’s year round riding season there.

Cortech scarab 2.0
So far the lowest temps I've used them at is 12 degrees Celsius. Nice and warm. The gloves do feel a little bulky. Hopefully it'll feel better when broken in. The glove opening should have been a bit bigger to make it easier to go over my jacket. Somewhat disappointed that the wrist straps are not equal length
