Good secular advice from a Christian author
Good secular advice from a Christian author. It could be a little shorter, as all mom books could be, and I thought some of the examples were a little unrealistic. For example, she recommends having a friend who can drop anything for you (and you for her) and gives the example of a younger mom and an older mom striking up a friendship. When the younger mom's husband gets sick with cancer, and older mom drops everything to help the younger mom. She was able to do this because he kids were self sufficient at that point (maybe high school or college). It was a wonderful story, but how many of us can just go out and find a conveniently older mom to befriend? I would have appreciated a more likely/natural pairing.

Great book for parents
This is a great book with a ton of useful tips for parents, especially mothers. A lot of times we are so caught up with everything we have to do as parents that we forget to be happy. This book really makes you stop and think so you can break the cycle of living each day exhausted and unhappy. AND also gives tons of great tips so you can apply to your life and take steps to find joy in parenting!

I can't get past the first 2 chapters
This book is a disappointment to me. I've listened to Meg on radio and basically enjoyed what she had to say. This book made me feel that if I'm not doing something outside the home, then my full potential is not being realized. That my God given vocation is not being fulfilled. I've got 6 kids that I home school, I've got plenty of vocation right here at home. God doesn't call everyone to fulfill themselves outside the home.Next chapter about girl friends.......having an interior circle and exterior circle. Well, isn't that special. She does touch on the importance of choosing your friends wisely and does mention that some friends can be problematic (like the ones that always need us to do something for them), but the number of people that we're to have around us to keep us 'happy moms' is just staggering! These friends are to be able and take the kids to soccer practice and bring us a meal, even clean our house! I'm feeling like a bad friend, because I couldn't even do this for any of my friends....not on that big of a scale. Sorry Meg, but it seems that you're writing to a different mom than what I am. 8-(

Must Read for Every Mom!
This book has confirmed the route I was going and also enlightened me in many areas of the path I've taken on parenting. If you are wanting to get out of the lifestyle of continually comparing yourself to other moms and find your purpose as a mom and know exactly what you are meant to do with your children, then this book is for you. I truly enjoyed the book from beginning to end and am so happy I read it. Life is too short to spend your time figuring out what your suppose to do in regards to society's standards. Find out for yourself what you are meant to do by implementing these 10 habits! You will for sure have true Joy and Peace in your parenting role!

Love this book!
Such a great easy read. I am currently pregnant with my second son and have a four year old at home. This book can be picked up and started without losing any ground between working and home life. I only have a few minutes here and there and this is something that I was able to enjoy. Wonderful tips on how to simplify your thoughts and life to get back to you as a person and a mother. I am excited to read her other books and take a moment or two to focus on me. Love it and am so pleased with this purchase. Would definitely buy again.

Completely awesome book!
This book is about being a happy mother. It is not about disciplining your children in any way. It is about what we can do as mothers to take care of ourselves on a daily basis. The author's writing is deep and concrete. I loved the questions she asks and the stories she uses to illustrate her book. I highly recommend this book to mothers who want more balance in their life and want to be happier as mothers. It is not geared specifically toward one group of mothers. It applies as much to mothers who work to those that don't. I am giving these books out as Christmas presents this year. It is that good.

A Long Road to Happiness
It took me almost 4 months to read this book, in part because I was so busy and failed to priotize it. This book truely is and has helped me to sharpen my saw, and renew my spirit. In my busy life it is very easy for me forget my friends, especially my old friends because we are in such differant places in our lives now. I felt good that I had some of the habits well under way, and that others I had practiced and stopped.I have been facing a tough transition in my life, and this book helped me to understand what makes happiness and consequently what drives unhappiness.

I was feeling like a burned-out mother and this was a great pick-me-up - inspiring, comforting, and a good reminder of what's most important in life.

It is a really good book. The author really understands and knows the struggles that mothers have. That's the part got me going to read this book. However, it repeats so MUCH! Maybe because she is a doctor, so she writes it like an essay or some. I had difficult time to read it for long, I even felt I was still reading something I have read 45 minutes ago.

Meeker is excellent
This is a good read and a life changer. It showed me concrete ways to be healthier and happier and didn't shame me for not doing it all right to begin with. Meeker's personal stories and guidelines that come from real life examples--from her family and her practice-- make what she's saying very clear.

Terrific resource!
I think this is one of the most practical books for mothers everywhere. It is simple to read and understand and includes personal anecdotes which are helpful to every mother seeking the meaningful side of relentless parenting chores, how to cope and how to enjoy mothering without losing your identity!
