Look no farther
I’m a firefighter so getting these boots where a must! And boy was that a great decision! The material is thick and the boot is well constructed . I bought a size 7 and my daughter got a few years of wear from them. The cookies are still bright after many uses in a rainy climate. So well made I passed them along to a fellow firefighter and I’m sure he’ll pass them along afterwards. They are constructed as good as my old real rubber firefighter boots. She got compliments on them everywhere we went. After writing this review I’m actually going to buy another pair. Cat go wrong with these

Fell Apart in less than 3 months
I know that kids run through shoes but seriously? I bought these boots for my daughter with the hope of handing them down to my son when she outgrew them. Nope. They won't even last for her to outgrow them. I live in a very rainy environment and really need waterproof boots. These fell apart in about 2 months from normal wear from just a couple days a week. We're not even in the rainy season where she'd wear them daily, so they hardly got worn during the summer! I'm really disappointed and WILL NOT buy these again or recommend them.First the pull handle came off on one side where I had to cut it off so it wasn't dangling off on the side. I sized these up so she wouldn't have to wrestle them on, so it must have been poor construction. Then the rubber seal on the back became unglued so these are no longer waterproof. And not just a little bit, but almost the entire height of the boot. And then there are the obvious scuffs on the front which are normal but then it started to make the seal come off near the toe. Extremely disappointed.

They won't last long and will crack easily--don't buy these.
These are poor quality and don't last long. I ordered these for my 3-year-old son and they appeared to be decent boots when new. However, they lasted about 2 months before the rubber cracked where the boot flexes when a step is taken. They weren't put under heavy use or extreme duress. They received typical use of walks on rainy or muddy days. But now, they aren't usable as rain boots and it looks like they'll be in pieces soon.

Great natural rubber boot for kids, and accommodates wide thick feet!
I try to find as non toxic footwear as I can for my young kids since their bodies are so young and developing. This includes natural rubber rain boots. (1 star removed because they don't say if their paints and dyes are lead and heavy metal free or if the glues are formaldehyde free). Very hard to find. This is the third pair of Western chief boots we have owned. All different colors. I know they haven't held up for some reviewers but in the three pairs we have owned, they have been workhorse boots. My son loves wearing rain boots when working in the yard with his dad and they have done years of projects together and have kept his feet dry and clean. When he was really little like size 4, they were t bit on the heavier side but he walked ok in them, but they are heavier than say those big box store pvc ones for kids.My kids have very wide feet and thick instep and it is hard to find footwear for them that accommodates their feet without being specifically for wide and xtra wide width. Western chief is a very generous cut apparently. Easy to slide wide thick feet into boot and there is some give on the sides so their feet are not vacuum packed into the boot.I bought a frog gree size 9 and they have a great fit to grow into and comfortable fit width wise. They have so many cute designs to choose from too.If your kid has very narrow feet, they might shift around a bit, I don't know. Try them at least.I have also purchased Stonz boots and they are also good quality and openly non toxic, no odor....But they are about $10 a pair more expensive than Western chief unless u hit a deal. So Western chief it is right now! Also, I can't obviously test the materials content of the boot but when I opened the box, there was a natural rubber smell that came out of the box. I purchased another brand of supposedly natural rubber boot and when I opened the box, there was a very strong brain cell cancelling reek of petroleum ...Kind of like gasoline? So I'm wondering just how natural rubber those were. I returned those.

Disappointed!
I bought this shoes for my 3year old boy who is a firefighter fan! Got them just in time to match his Halloween outfit.Everyone including my son, loved the look and style of these boots. These must have been comfortable because my son loved wearing them to his preschool.Unfortunately, these boots gave up way too soon. The front of the boots got cut and the toes also got exposed. This happened even though the boots were used carefully (no rough play)and maintained well.Needless to say it broke my son’s heart that I had to throw away his favorite boots that too within 1 month of use!Don’t buy if you are looking for sturdy boots that can be used for a good period of time.

Wonderful quality, wonderfully cute.
I have had Western Chief rainboots before, and I was not disappointed with this pair. My son was given a hand-me-down froggie raincoat and hat, so these boots match perfectly! I got one size larger than his standard shoe size. They're a bit snug going over chubby little toddler feet, but unless his socks are damp or super thick, I can get them on without a struggle. And once those feet are in the boots, it's obvious he'll have plenty of toe room to grow into. As his feet get longer, they'll thin out a bit, so I imagine I should get a full year's use out of these boots. The quality is great - sturdy plastic and solid joints. A few reviewers have said the pull bands broke on them, and I can imagine how that would happen if a lot of pressure was applied to them. Just look at the diameter of the band - it's not meant to be tugged on relentlessly! They're more intended to help a child guide his or her foot into the boot, rather than to be used to forcefully pull a boot on.After several weeks of use, they're now scraped up a bit (one-year-old + mud & gravel) and dirty, but there's no sign of any structural problems. My daughter has had her pair of Western Chief rainboots for over a year now, and they're as sturdy as the day we bought them.

Pathetic ! Wastage of money
This looks like fake western chief or brand has gone down with it’s quality . I had a pair for a very long time for my son . One can easily see manufacturing defects and poor quality . I hate going through the return process again . Just received the item and pictures can show the handles already Partially broken !!! Glue at bottom too...

Excellent gift
These were a birthday gift for my nephew, and he loved them! He plays dress up fireman, and jumps in puddles when it's raining. He's outgrown them now and they were passed on to my daughter, and they're still in excellent condition. Highly recommend.Only down side is they aren't lined, so they can be cold on chilly days. Wear warm socks.

Worst quality ever.
My son got to wear these twice before I noticed the bottoms showing wear. Then he went in a puddle and we discovered a gash in the side that the manufacturer tried to hide/fix with some coloured goo. Worst quality boots we've ever bought. We were going to contact to return but were in the midst of moving and they got packed away in the shuffle. Has left a bad taste in my mouth for ordering footwear online.
