Q: My watch does not work, did others work upon arrival or do you need to do something ?

My watch shipped without a battery. I used Sony 377 SR626SW battery and it works fine now. Notch on back of watch lets you pry it open with small flat head screwdriver.

Q: How long is the chain?

Long enough to hook on your belt hoop and put in your pocket.

Q: Can I smoke tobacco from the pipe or is it for aesthetic purposes only?

It looks like you could actually use it to smoke if you wanted.
