Dewey the Library Cat: A True Story [Myron, Vicki, Witter, Bret] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Dewey the Library Cat: A True Story Review: Great read - If you’re a cat lover, you’ll enjoy this book. I got a hard copy of the book years ago and I’ve read it at least twice and can’t give it up in case I want to read it again. I’ve loaned mine out, then worry I won’t get it back. My sister-in-law recently got her first cat after having dogs her whole adult life so I bought her this copy to read and keep. It’s just a sweet story of rescue and years of love and dedication. Review: Both uplifting and sad... A wonderful story about a wonderful cat and town! - As a cat lover, I don't know how I missed the story of Dewey until recently... But I am so glad that I did eventually find it. It is both a heart-warming story of a truly remarkable, loved, and loving cat, and an equally lovely town and people. Very highly recommended! I will warn you though, that the last few chapters will tear at your heart strings... I just wish that I had known about Dewey when he was still alive... He reminds me so much of my own unique and incredible orange tabby, Nettie, who passed in 2011 at 16. RIP to both of you and may you both always be remembered!

A wonderful adaptation for children
After reading the original Dewey book by Vicki Myron, my first thoughts were that this should be made into a book for children. Little did I know that it already was. My nine year old granddaughter read my Dewey book, but we were thrilled to find and purchase the children's version for her. This is an easier read and leaves out the most personal details of the author's life, which makes for an altogether wonderful book for kids. Children cannot relate to illness and marriage/divorce details, nor should they have to. Dewey is an inspiration to all, and you will have many smiles while reading it, as well as equally generous amounts of tears at the end. He is the most remarkable cat ever, and I highly recommend this book to all animal lovers everywhere. My granddaughter is so impressed with it that she wants to go to Spencer, Iowa to see the library where Dewey spent his life!

Cute story for cat lovers
I wasn’t careful when I was ordering this book and thought I was getting the adult version of this book. I was surprised when I opened up my package and it was the children’s version. I checked my order and sure enough it was me that made the mistake! Regardless, I gave the book a try, since I am a cat lover and didn’t mind having a quick and easy read. This was a really sweet story. I loved reading about how Dewey made his life at the library. In addition to being a cat lover, I also work in a library. It made me wish for a library cat of my own! I enjoyed all the little anecdotes and loved the photos. I admit I teared up in a few spots. I certainly enjoyed the book, and will probably pass it on to my nieces. Just make sure you’re ordering the right version!

Very touching book and not just about cats
I came online just now to leave a review for this book, and I ended up first reading a lot of the reviews, which I will admit I did not do before I read (or even bought) the book. It seemed like a cute book about a cute cat. It is, but it is a lot more than that, it is about all of us and how a community can come together. And yes, it is about a cute cat too. I would have loved to meet Dewey. This book also gave me comfort, having just very recently lost my 18 year old cat, who had also been abandoned near a downtown building, but fortunately he found us. So, I was not prepared for just how sad the last chapters of the book were and I cried. But, Dewey's story carried on and the end of the book is very uplifting. I won't be able to read it again anytime soon, but believe me, I will read it again. And then probably again sometime. I hope you will read it too.

Meet Dewey, the library cat.
There's no doubt, Dewey Readmore Books was a very special cat. From his introduction after being retrieved from the book drop on a freezing winter morning to the end of his long cat life, Dewey was the perfect !library cat. That's not a job for just any cat. Dewey knew every aspect of his job and never failed to perform it with pride. If you've ever loved a cat and/or ever had a special cat in your life, you will understand and appreciate this wonderful story. 3

This was a book that I couldn't put down and, as a bad sleeper,, it only took me 3 nights to read it. What a wonderful cat and didn't he have a wonderful life once rescued? Once again, I won't write anymore about the book as it would spoil it for others.
