Great for emergency kit
Purchased this for an emergency kit for my vehicle. Tested the starter out and works great.Like with any item, test and use the item prior to needing it.

Not the greatest for fire starting.
Not very useful for fire starting as the magnesium burns way too quickly and kind of floats without transferring the heat to the tinder.

Compact/portable
This is a neat little accessory to go camping with or for anything you need to start a fire for. I have used it one time to try it out and it worked pretty well. I have added it to my camping gear and will use it to start camp fires.
