Cables age and become stiff
WI-C200 reviewI’ve had these earphones for a few years now, and I must say that I like them a great deal - they have a great battery life, are USB-C, the sound is nice, and the earphones are small and fit snugly in your ear. They are also very convenient to carry when not in use, by simply wearing them as a necklace, the magnets in the ear piece are great. As to the complaint of the cables being too long, while this is true, it is easily resolved - start with the earpieces on the wrong side (R on the L, and L on the R), now cross the earpieces over, so that the L earpiece goes in the L ear, and R in the R. The wires will be crossed over in front of you, and there is no longer excessing slack cable. But, while I’m quite happy with these earphones, they have one large fault, and I would have recently bought another pair, if it were not for this -Cable stiffness - with time the cables have become stiff, such that when I turn my head, the earpieces pop out from my ear. With heat the cables become supple again, for example by wearing them around my neck and under a jacket, but as soon as I use them again the cable stiffens and the earpieces pop out with the slightest of movement. I’m unsure if this is caused by general aging, or by UV damage (I wore these in South Africa).Additionally, one earpiece has become incredibly quiet. I’m unsure if this was caused by damage while cleaning, or if the speakers are simply fragileDue to these two reasons, I finally replaced the earphones, with a pair of sony WF-C700N, sadly these are also lacking. I find myself happy with neither the WI-C200 or the WF-C700N, I think next time I will try another manufacturer.
