Great product, easy to install.
I'm an electrical engineer with 20 years experience in HVAC control systems. I had purchased a very expensive Sterilaire unit years ago for our home air handler, and it was nothing but a huge headache, as it was too powerful and would scorch nearly any surface in its field of light. So, we kept having to relocate it.This nice unit is much easier to install, and works well with fiberboard ductwork which is so common in Florida. It took literally 15 minutes to install.I had the tools already, including a drywall hand saw, and HVAC foil tape. I recommend both, and in addition, I used longer black screws instead of the short ones supplied by the mfgr.I also copied the template onto a blank full sheet shipping label, which allowed me to peel and stick the template, to get it level.I installed mine in a vertical main return air duct, instead of on the supply side, so that any zapped pollen or virus particles kept captured by the 4"thick filters on our Carrier heat pump. One important tip: Never look at the bulbs unless you have welders glasses or the equivalent. UV bulbs can burn your retina. If you want to test the unit before you cut holes in the ductwork, place it in a closet or laundry room, close the door, and plug it in to an outlet outside that room or closet. You should see blue light coming under the door.. Unplug it before opening the door, and now you now it's a working unit, without risking damage to your retina.Lastly, I love that spare bulbs are included. The replacement bulbs for our Sterilaire unit cost $200 per pair, making it prohibitively expensive, whereas even at year 3, these bulbs can be bought for $30 a pair. Big difference. Now I need to find a smart plug to sync with my smart Tstat, so the bulbs are onky on when the air handler is running.

Easy to install. Send seller a picture and he will help you locate it.
Seems like a good deal! The company that services my heating & cooling wanted $650 to install a uv unit with only one bulb. I researched uv lights and chose to do it myself. Installation was helped by the seller when I emailed them a picture. They returned it with the place best to install circled. This was a big help as I have a whole house humidifier installed in the return air duct. Their choice of location was perfect, below the heat exch coil & solved my problem of whether to put it before or after the humidifier. Installation would have been easier if I had a metal hole cutter, but it's in and working and it comes with 2 extra bulbs. Also a long cord. A really easy thing to install for the diyer. Just be careful not to look at the lighted bulbs without uv eye protection glasses. I used ones that came with my automobile ac service kit.Update. I installed this in Oct 2017. Didn't replace bulbs after a year as recommended by manufacturer. My bad! What was I thinking? The bulbs were still ok after a year so I left them in and forgot about it. Lately I noticed a different smell to the inside air. Just happened to look inside theplenum where I had installed the UV lights. (I had provided an extra hole to look thru but kept it covered with tape). Both bulbs burned out! I'll replace them every year now. Live and learn. 🤭

Easy to Install. Hope it Does Some Good
The UV light was relatively easy to install. I put it in our furnace return air duct before the filters so that all the air circulating in the house would be bathed in UV light. It requires two approximately 2" x 2" square holes to accept each bulb or a larger single hole for both of them. Tools suitable for cutting whatever duct material you have are required. Also, you'll need to drill 4 mounting holes or use self tapping screws for mounting. I bought the corded model and matched it with a Tjernlund PS1503P Plug-in Air Pressure Activation Switch so the UV would turn on when the furnace started. For installation expediency both were plug in units. So far it has worked fine. Since you can't look directly at the lights I especially like the small monitor light that tells when it is on and warns if one of the UV tubes fails. I don't know how well, if at all, this will work to disinfect our airflow. But at the time we had COVID in the house and I was throwing everything I could get my hands on at it to keep anybody else from getting sick. Under other circumstances I probably would have done a more thorough investigation of the efficacy of UV lights in a heating/cooling system.

First worked well, second one not so much
Original Review: (1star)This is my second unit that got for my in-laws.First unit works very well in our HVAC, runs cold for over 5 years now, just change bulbs twice a year, we are happy. But the recently purchased unit started to emit foul plasticky burning odour shortly after installation. It was very hot to touch after about 30 mins and I have turned it off for fear of fire. Will try one more time tonight… but feels like it is going to be returned.Update: (5stars)received replacement from Amazon very fast. Replacement works as expected. No issues
