Serious game changer
Ever since I discovered a love for fancy cocktails a few years ago, one of my biggest loves in cocktailcrafting has always been smoke. Smoke in any form - Islay scotch, the smokiest mezcals, and especially, just smoking the heck out of everything right at the bar. I loved the resulting drinks, but I also just loved the spectacle of it. I'd long thought about buying a home smoke gun, but the previous time I'd checked (a few years ago), the only ones I could find were restaurant-grade, and therefore, $$$$$. I put it on my "eventually" list and then mostly forgot about it. Then of course, the pandemic hit, all the bars had to shut down, and even if they're starting to reopen, nobody's doing elaborate smoked-to-order custom drinks right now, for good reason. So I went back to Amazon to see if prices had come down, and holy heck they had! I actually had multiple choices in smoking guns at this price point - I went with this one because it included the toolset. I haven't used the included tools yet for making your own custom smoking containers (though they look solid too), but I have definitely used both the lid attachment and the dome attachment, and they are both solid (zero complaints). The gun itself is surprisingly quiet, and works quite well for the price. It's not quite as large or as powerful as the mondo smoke guns I've seen at fancy bars sometimes, so it takes a bit longer to smoke, but that's fine - I'm not a bar, I'm only making cocktails for myself, so I'm fine waiting a few minutes). It absolutely does a fantastic job of infusing cocktails with whatever wood you feed it. So I can finally have a proper mesquite-smoked rum old fashioned, and it doesn't even cost 14 bucks plus tax and tip! It's really easy to use, as long as you have a decent torch lighter (but I bought mine from a local smoke shop for like 4 bucks, so that's not a high barrier to use.) Since I unboxed it a couple weeks ago, I've also smoked a mezcal bloody mary (delicious), a local bar's to-go "apple maple whiskey sour" (delicious), a Vieux Carre (delicious)... as well as my wife's slow-cooker pulled pork (extremely delicious) and an entire charcuterie (so freaking delicious). This is seriously a game-changer. Just a few minor complaints, that would not prevent me from recommending it (unless someone came out with a better smoke gun that was exactly the same as this one, just with my complaints fixed, of course!): 1. I wasn't sure if it came with a sample pack of wood? I can tell you now, it does not. So that delayed my use of it slightly, since I had to order the wood separately when I found that out. (Not a big deal, just know when you order wood for it, if you don't want to do a bit of extra work, make sure to order wood that's been smashed to bits, or you'll have to smash it yourself. It consumes very small pieces of wood! I bought what I thought was four small bags of small pieces of wood, but was actually four large bags of large pieces of wood, so I just have to hammer it a bit.) 2. I love how easy it is to clean, but there's one tiny little metal grate that's supposed to keep the wood from falling down into the device, and nothing holds it in place except for friction, so it's constantly falling in. Again, not the end of the world, just know that you'll probably have to open up the top and slide the grate back into place pretty frequently. (But it's easy to open and close, so that's not a big deal either.) 3. The biggest complaint, both in terms of total cost over time, and especially environmentally: I really wish it was usb-chargeable, instead of requiring four consumable batteries. It's only been a couple weeks since I've started using it, though, so I can't say how long the batteries last (though I've been using the absolute heck out of it over the past couple weeks, so I'll probably find out soon enough!)

It's a fun kitchen gadget
I got this as a fun gift for my significant other who significant years running commercial kitchens. It's a fun way to add smoke flavor to things like cheese, fruit, butter etc for personal use.

Easy smoked foods
I love using this little unit since I live in Hot Texas and don’t want to go outside to smoke my foods. It’s easy to use. The instructions say to not loose the little screen (more than once). They did include an extra. I thought it was funny until I used it and went to clean it up once done. I didn’t think the section would be that hot and I dropped the top part that has the filter. I never did find the screen after that. So I put in the extra. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit very well. It kinda fall thru and I have to make sure the wood and ash don’t enter the fan area. I contacted the vender to buy replacements for it. They sell them here on Amazon. The screen does not stay put and easily falls out. Washing the pieces after each use seems to be a must. The fan cover gets the oils baked on and I have to lightly scrub it. There is a pin that holds the screen up and the pin is slightly off center but it doesn’t seem to be an issue. The dome is plastic not glass for which I am glad. Over all a neat little gadget. I deducted one star because the screen could be better seated to not loose it so often.

Effective and great value
This is a great value for what you get. The cloister alone justifies the price and increases the usage options. It really doesn't take long to drastically alter the flavor profile of a cocktail or cheeses. Meats tend to take a couple seconds longer unless they're dried. The fact that it's battery operated instead of rechargeable is great in my opinion because your power source is replaceable rather than killing the whole unit when there are battery issues. I definitely recommend this.

Happy with my purchase
Fantastic! I bought this a few months ago and have used it several times. It comes with a nice assortment of chips which was a plus. be careful with which food your smoking and the amount of chips you will need lol I actually put in the same amount of chips for my smoke salmon (which was perfectly delicious) and some mozzarella cheese . The cheese needed fewer chips for sure! I have only used this inside my house and there is some smoke smell that I can detect so I would advise opening a window but if not it dissipates quick enough

Only worked for 2 months.
Updated: the seller responded quickly with a tip on taking it apart and "unjamming the motor/moving piece" that looks like a pinwheel, and that did the trick. It works again now. Upgrading from 1 star to 3, as I'm still concerned with having to manually force it (who knows how often) but at least it works now. Loved this smoker at first, but it simply died after only 2 months of use... how disappointing! It's not the cheapest one out there, and I liked all the features and accessories, but product should have a normal lifespan. 2 months, perhaps a dozen smoked cocktails made, and dead. Was properly cleaned, fresh batteries tried, etc but nothing. I've reached out to seller, we'll see what they say, but of course it is "past the return window".

Quick smokey flavor, and you can show off!
For quick and easy smoke flavor, it's great. When I'm too busy to full on cold smoke salmon* or cheese, I can put some slices on a plate, light a pinch of hardwood sawdust in the top of the "volcano", and have smokey flavor appetizers in just a few minutes. Use slices of food. Unlike a 6-hour cold smoke, the smoke in this quick process does not permeate deeply, just sits on the surface. It's pretty easy to clean, and the fact that it comes with the dome makes this smoking gun a great value. For great presentation, bring the smoke-filled dome to the table for a spectacular show. *Quick cure small wafers of a quality fresh salmon fillet in heavily salted water for 3 minutes. Let dry in a rack for an hour or so, then hit them with this smoker. It's nearly as good as long cure/long smoke salmon. It doesn't get the "Salmon bacon" texture and intensity, but it's a very good and classy appetizer.

Quit working after 2 months
Bought this as a gift for my wife, worked well for a few months (used maybe a dozen times) and won't turn on any longer. Overall, the flavors produced are excellent but unit is not easy to clean and now we have 4 containers of wood shavings that we can't use. Very disappointed.
