I teach and tutor ESL to adults at the beginning levels. These workbooks, in conjunction with the Oxford Picture Dictionary (Second Edition), are handsdown the best tools that I've found to teach vocabulary by subject -- example: describing things; colors; prepositions of location; describing people; describing clothing; ... ; money; measurements; ... shopping; ...; grocery shopping (unit by each area - fruit, vegetables, meats, packaging...); medical (appointments, hospital, pharmacy....). FANTASTIC RESOURCE!!!!!

My adult English improver is using it to improve his understanding. (I am a volunteer literacy tutor.) His primary language is Spanish but he has been here a long time and has a good grasp of English. When we review his "homework" he often asks additional questions to improve his use of English.Would definitely use again in similar circumstances.

I'm an ESL teacher and this is an excellent resource for my low level students. Be sure to buy the actual Oxford Picture Dictionary that goes with it as this is just worksheets and communicative exercises that students need that book to complete. Together, they're great for helping students improve their vocabulary in a student-centered way ( a lot of pair work and communicative activities) without translating to their native language.

The term "visual dictionary" appealed to me because I work with an ASD population. I was not disappointed and have used these books and workbooks for teaching practical information that students may have missed in their everyday lives. I find it especially useful for middle and high schoolers. The graphics are excellent, detailed and sometimes small.

This High Beginning workbook works well with the corresponding Monolingual Picture Dictionary. I feel that it is important that even the page numbers correspond, and the CD's are available for listening and pronunciation practice outside of class.

Tolles Workbook zum Lernen und Üben von Vokabeln - unbedingt mit dem Dictionary bestellen. Werde mir mehr aus dieser Reihe aneignen.

Manuel très bien fait pour apprendre seul ou en classe le vocabulaire. J'ai acheté le livre du professeur et les 3 niveaux de cahiers d'exercices qui vont avec et je dois dire que c'est très bien pensé et construit pour appliquer en classe avec mes élèves de collège. Les images / dessins / photos et montages sont colorés et variés. Les personnes présentées, les objets, la nourriture etc. sont de natures variées et le livre est axé sur le multiculturalisme, ce qui est une bonne chose.Il est à noter cependant que "Oxford" ne signifie pas = accent anglais. Tous les livres ont des CD inclus à l'intérieur pour la prononciation des mots de chaque page ( mots seuls ou mis en contexte dans des phrases)sont prononcés avec l'accent américain et le vocabulaire est complètement américain ( ex : pour dire l'heure ). Pour trouver l'accent et le vocabulaire britanniques, il faut plutôt acheter la collection "Cambridge" ( pronunciation vocabulary...).

I purchased this book...assuming that is was Canadian-based. This month's theme in my ESL program was Canada and government, so this book didn't help me at all. It is all about the U.S.A. and it's government. Beware folks to all of you who intend to make purchases...if you are interested only in Canadian content, make sure that it says "Canadian" on the front.
