Revolutionary Girl Utena Complete Deluxe Box Set

I love having this on my bookshelf. Utena is a gorgeous story and I loved having the extra artwork that came with it, and the box itself is also very nice looking and visually pleasing to have on display. Worth the money if you're a big utena fan!

I honestly can't say enough good things about how beautifully this was packaged. There's gloss color pages at the beginning of each book of chihos beautiful illustrations. Each book is hardcover. The case is beautiful and it comes with a poster. The page and quality of the printing is very good and very consistent.This was my favorite series as a kid. Now 13 years later and it's still my favorite anime and manga series. I don't think there's an Utena or Chiho Saito fan out there that wouldn't absolutely love this. This is a great product at a fabulous price.

Both the box and the two books are aesthetically pleasing, not to mention the beautiful mini poster included. The manga itself is very good, with breathtaking artwork and a compelling story. For those of you who watched the anime first, you don't have to worry about going through the same story all over again. There are plenty of notable differences. In addition to the main story, this set also includes the one-shots and the movie tie-in. If your a big manga collector, a huge Utena fan, or both, then I highly recommend this.

I watched the anime for the first time as a teen and now I am reading the manga as an adult. The story can get very dark and disturbing so I would not recommend everyone to read it if certain themes make them uncomfortable. The manga provided so much detail that was left out in the anime and I actually enjoy it more than the anime!

This is not so much a review about the story, but the presentation of this box set. I have always wanted to track down the volumes of the Utena manga, but I knew it would be an expensive endeavor so I never did. Here, you get 2 full volumes in hardcover (not paperback like in the description) of the entire manga series. The books are beautiful and sturdy and display nicely in the box. I enjoyed Utena when I was younger and as an adult, I don't have the space for multiple books of manga anymore. This is PERFECT, looks nice displayed and doesn't take up a ton of space. . I hope publishers will take note and resurrect other series like this.

I received my copy today! I was a bit nervous since the listing said “paperback.” BUT I received the complete deluxe box set in hardback with the poster! The original printing of this box set was 2017 - these books say they’re part of the second reprint from November 2024. Most of the reseller online are selling this for around $200. So for $50, this is an absolute win for Utena fans! I am absolutely thrilled! I grant you the power to revolutionize the world!

I’m absolutely in LOVE with this box set. It’s so gorgeous - the glossy prints in the beginning of each book are beautiful. The paper is a great weight through the whole book too - not too thin like in most omnibus manga editions! And the hard covers are stunning! I would 100% recommend this to all collectors. My only disappointment is that the box was damaged (pictured). I didn’t notice until I had peeled the shrink wrap off, but it was clearly damaged either in transit or in the warehouse.

The manga version of Revolutionary Girl Utena tells a really powerful, mystical, and the utmost otherworldly story. It gives me a sense of optimism and at times, thorniness, as if something has not resolved––even though the Chiho Saito’s manga gives the ending more thoroughness than the anime. Again, that is simply my opinion. *Spoilers* In terms of characterization, the manga version of Touga Kiryuu is the utmost compelling and interesting. Unlike the anime, Touga is truly in love with Utena and is the only one besides Himemiya to remember her after Utena sacrifices her entire existence. I actually relate to him a great deal, about his worldview and why he wants this power to revolutionize the world. “Tenjou, have you ever felt…that you were an outsider? That this place we look down upon…It’s like another world, far from the real one? Our true world exists someplace else. We all want to get that world back…So we can finally return to our deepest selves. This world we inhabit…It’s like an egg…A small world encased in a hard shell. The chick will die, unborn, it it doesn’t break through that shell. It will die, without ever knowing that it’s a bird! If we don’t break the world’s shell…we’ll die without being born…without knowing we can fly! And I want to fly. That is why I will revolutionize the world…so that I can be myself…!” To feel so suffocated in this world, being external to this world that seems so real, I guess I can really understand him. I, too, if possible, desire this power. In fact, it’s the only thing worth starting: the shattering of this world, to put an end to all the contradictions and human depravity. Despite how ridiculous this sounds, it is the power to play god even obeying World’s End to do that.

La colección es grandiosa en contenido y calidad. Personalmente este es mi primer acercamiento a Utena y lo compre completamente a ciegas porque se veía interesante y fue una gran compra. No voy a meterme mucho en la historia ya que creo que se disfruta más a ciegas. Muchas personas dicen que el anime es mejor, pero no he visto el anime así que realmente no puedo opinar. La colección se presenta en una funda muy bonita y los dos libros que incluye son de gran calidad. La impresión, el arte, el papel, las tapas todo muestra que se hizo muy bien. Incluye un póster también que se ve bien y está impreso en buen papel.

Es una preciosidad de edición. Vienen los 5 tomos del manga original más el tomo único de la película. Además incluye varias páginas de ilustraciones a todo color y un hermoso póster de Utena y Anthy. Viene en dos tomos de tapa dura con hermosas portadas y contraportadas. Incluso la caja es bonita. Una compra maravillosa para tod@ fan de Utena.
