Product arrived on time. My daughter opened it Christmas Day to find that part was broken and not glued very well. It’s all very wiggly around that portion and so we expect it to break soon. We may have to superglue it ourselves. As for the function, not very musical but will be fun to play with. For overall quality of the wood it’s 5 stars. For overall functionality, 2 stars. Which brings my review to a 3 star review. I am a huge fan of PlanToys, but they definitely missed the Mark on this one. I will continue to support them with their other toys, as they are the highest quality and most creative wooden toys on the market.

My toddler is obsessed with stringed instruments, and has been begging for a banjo.In my personal opinion, this is a great transition before taking the plunge on ‘real’ one. The sound is decent, the tuning is functional, and the instrument as well as the strings have stood up PHENOMENALLY to my kid’s rough spurts. Ofcourse it is not as nice as a real banjo— but for a rough toddler who is not yet ready to be reliably gentle with a proper instrument, it has been just the ticket. I cannot wait to get him his very first real one in a few years... but for now, we are just as smitten with this one, and I know it will continue to become one of our most treasured possessions and memories.

Bought two of these. One of the tuning knobs is too loose so won’t keep tension on the string and loosens itself. (Not that you can “tune” it per se, but would help.)

My little brother has Autism and all he wanted for christmas was a banjo. This is the perfect gift. It was a good size and sensory friendly. The only complaint I would have is that the box was water damaged inside the package which did not have water damage. Yet, it is what inside that matters and the product itself had no damage. My brother loved it.

Heavy duty toy. Good quality. Worth the money.

If you are looking to get a playable, tuneable, (ie functional) banjo for a child, this isn’t it.If this were marketed as for-show only then I wouldn’t be so disappointed, but the item description says it is tuneable and playable and that just isn’t true. The pegs don’t stay in position at all.My 4 year old had expressed an interest in learning to play the banjo. This seemed like a decent way to get him introduced, but he is just frustrated by it and seems to care not at all about learning banjo anymore. A total dud of a Christmas gift.I basically bought a banjo shaped piece of wood.

We gave this to our three-year-old and it's held up through temper tantrums and regular toddler play. It is hard to tune in a humid climate -- the tuning pegs swell and are hard to turn.
