90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death & Life

A great read
I bought this book out of a bit of curiosity but mostly because it's a biography...I was just finishing up with one on George Mueller. Don Piper goes to my church, so I thought this might be a good read since I am acquainted with him (not to a level of "friend") and have heard him preach a couple times over the years. My faith is such that I didn't need to read an extra-biblical account of Heaven to believe and expect. Still...his account is interesting. But, 4/5 of the book is about his time after he came back. As I said in the title to this review...a great read!!! His story of dealing with depression and other issues was a testament to what GOD had already done (and was still doing) for me.Do I believe that he went to Heaven? What I believe doesn't matter! I do know that he didn't [nor did the Apostle Paul] stay wherever he went...like my grandpa Eddie and sister Nancy have done. He says that he was at--on the outside of--a gate of Heaven...and that's good enough for me. It's HIS story--just like I have MY stories and you have YOUR stories about what we have seen and experienced. We each know each time we open our mouth whether or not we are making something up or telling the truth as we see it...and assuming that we told the truth about something as we saw and experienced it...that leaves only three options for anyone who hears our story (or reads what JESUS says about Himself): 1) the story is told as a lie...and we are thus a liar, 2) the story is untrue but we nonetheless believes it to be true...and are therefore off our rocker, 3) the story is true as told. That is what each member of a jury has to decide about what they hear from each witness who takes the Stand. If a witness is believed by the authorities to be case number (1)...telling a lie--they get charged with perjury. Case number (2)...telling what is believed to be the truth...is not a punishable offense. In the story that JESUS told about Abraham, the beggar, and the rich man...Abraham told the rich man when he asked him to send Lazarus the beggar back to life to tell his brothers to change their ways and avoid Hell, "They will not believe even if somebody came back from the dead." Some time later...JESUS himself did just that. It seems obvious to me that GOD knew that somebody(s) had to hear some part of what Piper has to say...

Heavenly
This book gave me great comfort as my husband passed away last year. I've thought about him and other family members. Now I know they are all together and seriously happy.

This book brought me closer to god. And helped with the passing of my mom.
This book is a fantastic book. I’m not much of a reader but this book sucks you right in. I love how he incorporates bible verses for every chapter, and it helped me cope a little bit with the passing of my mom. Praise god!

We all have free will - please let Jesus into your hearts
Have already got this book on kindle - purchased it in paper form for someone else. Everyone goes through some form of trauma throughout their lives. This book written by Don Piper can be outstandingly personal in all aspects of faith, and the journey it can take us on. Don is a fantastic communicator - thank you Don for relaying your own experience of true resilience, true grit and determination, and your never ending feelings of faith, and love that conquers all. God bless you, and keep you safe. My own personal journey is very tough at the moment - daughter Kerry in hospital with a brain tumour, and son in law in rehab having had a severe stroke - both very poorly. Please, please pray for them. Thank you, and a special thank you to Don for giving us an remarkable insight into the 90 minutes he spent in heaven. Prayers, hope & faith can truly move mountains.

Fascinating and very encouraging.
Spell binding. Written with great honesty and personal scepticism and thus immensely convincing as totally true. Personally I am so looking forward to heaven now I have read this book. It is biblically supportive, so rings true with me. Makes spellbinding reading. Have lent it to two people grieving the loss of a very dear loved one. They both found it helpful and encouraging.
