90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death and Life

TRULY an inspiring read!!
I lived just a few miles from where Don Piper had his accident on the Trinity River bridge. I remember it. Years later, I discovered he is a member of my church, after moving from my hometown to the Houston area.If you've every had any questions about the reality of Heaven or what you might experience there, you need to read his book. He is not someone wanting to profit from his story. He truly is a very humble man. He didn't even tell the story of his experience until many years after the fact, when a friend convinced him he needed to share it and that maybe that was his purpose for experiencing it in the first place. A WONDERFUL, POWERFUL and INSPIRING story which strengthened my faith even more! I find myself thinking about Heaven often and truly desiring/looking forward to the day I will get to see it for myself! And, to see once again, my love ones that I miss so much. I felt peace just reading his story. Heaven is real and it's there for ANYone willing to accept the free gift of eternal salvation, just by asking Jesus into your heart. Please read it. It might even save your life.......your eternal life!

Powerful story!
A well written and very interesting account of his experience. The book is extremely Christian based, which is understandable due to his belief system. I did find it a bit restrictive in that area, since I have more spiritual leanings. I thought his honestly, courage and strength in overcoming such a horrible event were amazing. I do believe in miracles and the power of prayer, and that the collective power of it saved his life. I was most impressed with his honesty about the depression, anger and other psychological struggles he went through during his recovery. His ability to use this experience to help so many other people is commendable.

It is a good reminder that if you are a Christian heaven is ...
This is a true account and one of the earliest to describe someone who has died and went to heaven. It is a good reminder that if you are a Christian heaven is a real place and you get to go there. The bulk of the book deals more with the injuries Don received in a wreck and the very painful slow recovery that followed. He does speak of the many lessons he learned during the recovery and the closer he became to the Lord.

Awesome Book
This is an awesome book! I have already recommended it to other people and recommend it to you who are reading this review. It's a true story an that's the best part of this book. I'm amazed at what this man had to endure just to get a glimpse of heaven an am thankful he told us his story because it answers alot of unanswered questions about heaven an also helps to put you at ease about someday going there. Thank You Don for sharing your story to the world and GOD BLESS YOU & STAY STRONG.Cynthia Steinmueller

Wow!!
I am not a church goer but I do believe in God. My mother is 63 and in a nursing home with Lewy Body Dementia she is so young. I have felt that she doesn't deserve it and God is mean to make her go thru this but reading this story makes me wonder if it is not for a higher purpose. This book has helped me immensely. This is a must read for everyone!!!

Great inspirational book
Great inspirational book. Don's story reassures me of the reality of heaven and a little of what I can expect when I'm finally there. His struggle with physical healing and his ability to help those going through similar struggles because of what he went through was also an encouragement. It gives me assurance that God will use my own personal struggles to bring comfort to those going through similar experiences like He's done with Don.

90 Minutess In Heaven
The author was involved in a serious auto wreck, crushed in his vehicle and was declared dead at the scene by the paramedics. He "visited" Heaven while still trapped in his demolished car. After a while (around 90 minutes) a friend came upon the scene and crawled into the car, held the victim's hand and sang Christian songs and prayed. The writer came around and "returned" from Heaven. He describes Heaven in the typical way we hear about throughout our upbringing; longtime friends welcoming him, bright lights, golden streets, etc. He then proceeds to tell us all about his various critical and devastating injuries, how his friends prayed for him and how, after many months of rehabilitation and suffering, his body eventually returned nearly to normal. It's nicely written, easy to follow and the reader can decide whether or not the writer actually was dead after all. And if, indeed, he did visit "Heaven." Christian or not, it's an interesting story. Charles A. Reap, Jr., Author: "Devil's Game," and "My Friend Sam."

A tonic for doubt.
For me, this account of events was heartening, unforgettable, doubt-vanquishing, elevating, life-changing spiritually-renewing and strengthening. It was pick-me up for the soul, at a time when it was personally needed. So, more than worth reading then! (That would be an understatement.) But at what price? For me to receive such benefit which I value more highly than words can convey, feels priceless. However, that also seems horribly selfish because the price the author has paid in severe pain and anguish, so that his story could be told, is nothing short of immense. It is also therefore deeply humbling. My gratitude is woefully insufficient.I hope that millions will have benefitted like I have done, and more might yet do so. But I dare say that many intractable sceptics will remain intractably sceptical. I was once such a sceptic who would have resented any hope, which others might express, that this narrative might shine a reassuring light through any chink in my stubborn armour. And I most certainly have resented people praying for me. Nevertheless, now at risk of being resented myself, I dare to hope for others who may be as I used to be.This book alone did not change my mind about God, I have to confess, as I had already turned the corner; somewhat miraculously, considering the previous state of my philosophy and settled persuasions or convictions. It now seems as if I was spiritually stagnant before I came around. During that stage of denial, I strongly doubt that I would ever have entertained the notion of reading such a book, even through curiosity. However, as things had newly awakened deep within, I was probably one-quarter to half-way there. And so it did seem an attractive read, and I found that it did reinforce and boost my newfound faith just when this was most needed to seal the deal, as it were. I now feel much stronger for it, and hugely comforted.

beautiful
I loved this book. Piper has gone through a nasty car crash and the ambulance men thought he had died, but he lived to tell the tail of what happened in the 90 minutes he was unconscious and it is a beautiful account.
