In general this is a good book for the novice mechanic with lots of good photos and illustrations, specially if you have an older bike from the 80's (or a Kawasaki KLR650 or Suzuki DR650...). The book is outdated and still talks about drum brakes, carburetors and contact breakers. If you have a modern bike and wants to learn basic info on fuel injected systems, ABS / linked brakes or control systems, this book is not for you.

Of no practical help
I'm a big fan of Haynes' MC Techbook series. They generally start by explaining the most basic fundamentals, after which they give in depth theoretical explanations of how each system works. You come away with an understanding that helps your hands-on work on your mc.This book is an exception. It has nice pictures of somebody doing stuff to some sort of motorcycle you do not own. It says do this or that to components but DOES NOT explain what they are or how they work. It does not identify components in its photos. Its examples are from motorcycles with different components than the one you own.If you already know how a mc works then you already know how to maintain it. If you do not know how it works --what it's parts are-- then this book will not help.A terrible book. Would not buy again.
