Hearthstone 7211-470 Gas Fireplace Thermocouple

Didn't last, testing another, maybe bad propane
It fit perfectly in a Hearthstone gas fireplace but only lasted a few months. The tip looks like it melted or popped. The pilot light flame appears to be adjusted correctly. It is burning cleanly and just covers the end of the thermocouple. It was used with propane at 6,000 ft elevation. The original thermocouple lasted about 10 years.Since they only cost about $8 I had ordered two. We'll see if the second one lasts longer. For now I am leaving the pilot flame off unless using the fireplace.Edit:I think the problem may have been low-grade propane. Our delivery driver said that some companies mix butane with the propane to reduce costs. He said butane can trap water leading to burst pressure regulators in freezing temperatures (happened to us) and short thermocouple life.
