Historians must communicate clearly.
The language is so challenging that the ideas are lost. Historians must communicate clearly not simply demonstrate their high-falutin’ vocabulary.

Time without end
This book has had some ecstatic reviews, which is why I bought it. It is, however, almost impossible to read. I fear one needs to be a very specialist historian to wade through its desperately dire prose. One example out of endless others: "The transition from traditional to modern temporalities is variously conceptualised as a process of acceleration, expansion, narrowing, regeneration, compression, distanciation, splitting, fracturing, emptying, annihilation, intensification, and liquefaction." If you like this sort of thing buy and enjoy, otherwise avoid like the plague.
