No, it's an entirely different product and formulation.  The combo of arginine and citrulline is thought to be more effective and efficient in producing nitric oxide in the body.  No form of Arginine is good at that by itself, while citrulline, either combined with malate (malic acid) or not, is definitely effective (converted in the kidneys to NO).  Some studies suggest combining the two enhance the effects of both.  I like this formula even though AKG is not directly involved in NO synthesis, but like malic acid can give you more energy.  My only concern is, is it cost effective because you really want to ingest about 6 grams of citrulline a day for NO production, especially if you are a man north of 50.  Citrulline Malate in a 2:1 ration means in every 3G,  you get 2 citrullines and 1 malate.  Not a bad thing, but if its the pure NO boost you seek, you need to make sure your getting your bang for buck.
