Nothing to hate

低く荘厳な音色は、まるで教会のよう。全長は子供の背丈ほどですが、パイプ径や、全体幅が狭いので存在感は「ほどほど」です。

I was not at all educated about wind chimes in the least until my boyfriend suggested one for his birthday, inspired by a friends' he had seen in the mountains. All he said was that he wanted a big one with a deep sound. If that is what you are looking for you have found it! The sound is very soothing and beautiful, almost like church bells. There ARE deeper sounding ones but this was the best I could find in this price range. You can listen to the audio on Woodstock's official website and also on YouTube but, in my opinion, these chimes sound WAY better live. I was expecting it to be big, but when it arrived I was astounded by it's size, almost five feet (I will try to post a video and some photos later). As we live in Florida and it is coming on "fall" I was not worried about the lack of wind, but it DOES take quite a bit of wind to get this thing going. Also, one of the bars is a bit discolored (lighter) from its fellows, which drove my OCD self crazy at first but now it doesn't bother me so much. The wood pieces are VERY red, much more vibrant than the photos. I expected it to be a slight cherry wood or something but it almost looks as if it was stained red (probably was). All in all, it is a gorgeous chime alone or to add to your collection. Now that I consider myself an expert I hope to collect more to complement this one! Go for it!
