Good value let down by poor quality adapter moulding
I have bought other JJC hoods and been very pleased with them, they are just as good as the real Canon items, often at a fraction of the silly Canon prices. This one comes in two parts, the hood itself with the traditional bayonet fixing, and an adapter ring that screws in to the filter mount, providing the bayonet mount for the hood. This means that the hood can be fitted and removed very easily, and can be fitted in reverse for storage. Some other hoods just screw in, making them fiddly to fit, and of course also meaning they won't fit in reverse. But the quality of the plastic ring seems very inferior. When I first tried fitting the ring and hood together, they simply would not fit. It took some brute force to get them to clip together, and then the quarter turn required to engage the bayonet fit was extremely stiff. It took a good few minutes of turning back and forth and taking apart and pushing together again to ease it up and make it work smoothly. During this process, lots of tiny "shards" of black plastic came away. This is not good, you definitely don't want tiny bits of debris like this going anywhere near your lens or camera.Once I was happy that the parts had bedded in to each other and no more bits were coming off, I screwed the ring on to the lens - on to the UV filter that was already there in fact. Once again, the poor quality of the moulding became evident, because despite doing it up very gently until it was *just* tight, it then jammed solid and it took me several minutes and more uncomfortable use of considerable force to unscrew it from the filter again. More excess plastic on the moulding, I think. So, now I have successfully bedded in all the fittings, the ring now screws in and unscrews ok, and the hood glides on and off the bayonet fitting beautifully and, as mentioned, does fit on in reverse for stowing in the bag. The lens cap does fit on the adapter ring too, so you can leave the ring on all the time if you wish.I would still recommend this as a more sensibly priced option. Just be careful when you first get it. If you get one like mine, you don't want those bits of plastic going near your lens.

Value for money...
I have used hood form different third party brands, and do for no one had the quality like this one... Good quality material, feels very sturdy, fits snugly, looks good... Replacing hoods with the same brand for all my lenses...
