Sold Product with World-Class Service
Solid Product: I did an extensive research on backup cameras and decided on the Auto-Vox M1 because of its easy "one wire" installation, high satisfaction reviews, and very high value (quality product for price). I chose a wired system versus wireless because of potential problems with RF interference and response lag; I want a picture to appear immediately when my car is in reverse. Installation (early 2018) was indeed easier than most other systems because of their "one-wire" cabling system. You still have to snake one wire from the trunk to the front dash, as expected. For a simple, non-digital system, the picture met all my expectations: quite sharp - good enough to see what I need, viewing angle could be wider (around 100 degrees) but more than adequate, and night vision was good enough although there is glare from headlights, as expected for a mid-range system. For the price, very happy with performance and reliability. World-Class Service: While I was very happy with the product, what blew me away was their customer service, specially from a person named, Will. The camera suddenly lost picture a few weeks ago so I emailed customer support, not expecting too much because my warranty was near the expiration period. I received a response within 24 hours from Will, asking me to perform some diagnostic testing to narrow down the problem. We went back and forth, tried a few things, but no fix. Response time was quick, always within 24 hours - super fast for industry standards, almost like having your own personal service - super pleased. Lacking any other ideas, Will did the most unexpected next step - he just outright sent me a whole new system (no hassles, period!.) - couldn't believe it, but he did! After several days of trying out the new monitor (no fix), new camera sensor (no fix), I pulled out the wiring harness and replaced it - Fix it! There was no visible damage to the old wiring harness, but replacing it fixed the problem. Happy camper again! Conclusion: Coming from a high-tech design/manufacturing/management background of all kinds of electronic products, one key differentiation when choosing a product that most people forget, is customer service. In reality, electronic products are fairly reliable, but they (even the best, the biggest brands) will fail eventually. That's when the quality of customer service is most important and Will has demonstrated the highest level of customer service that I have experienced. Bottom Line: Based on my experience with their customer service (Will), I would put Auto-Vox on the top of my list, assuming of course, they had the product features I needed.

I've installed a lot of these kits & this is my new favorite!
I think this is the 5th, maybe 6th camera kit I've installed this year. I've sort of become the family "expert" and word has gotten out that I know how to install them pretty well. I've put them in mine & my wife's vehicles (mine twice), my mom's car, and set up two trailers for my uncle. This backup camera kits has a lot of little features that I am impressed with compared to other kits I've used: โข The small size of the connectors. The connectors that Auto-Vox uses are much smaller than the typical RCA type connectors most camera kits have. Where this really comes in handy is feeding the wire from the rear of the vehicle to the front. With the small connectors that Auto-Vox uses, most of the trim panels, door sill plates, etc. do not have to be removed in order to route the cable. Everything is small enough that it can be tucked under or fed through small gaps without needing to pull off interior pieces. This saves a lot of time and there is a lot less chance of breaking a trim clip or something. โข The camera works really well. The camera is probably the most critical part of these kits. If the camera is low quality, it wonโt look good even if you hook it up to the worldโs best HD monitor. The camera in this kit has a wide viewing angle, colors are pretty much spot on, and it has a good low-light performance without needing LEDs (which seem to cause glare in my opinion). โข The camera itself is quite small, so itโs not in the way or rear of the rear handle on my SUV. The bracket fits behind the license plate, I donโt have to worry about getting trouble from the cops here in NJ where obscuring a plate can get you pulled over. The camera is adjustable up/ down so I donโt have a problem seeing curbs even though my SUV sits pretty high. โข The IP68 rating is worth mentioning. Most kits will have an IP67 rating. Both are sealed against dust well enough (the โ6โafter the IP), but an 8 rating when it comes to water ingress is far better than a seven. A seven rating in real world use is essentially splash resistant. An 8 is actually waterproof, able to be submerged. Since I donโt make a habit of submerging my vehicle this may seem excessive, but where this matters is car washes. Iโve seen a lot of people with fogged up wet cameras & most of them are due to water getting in from car wash sprayers. This IP68 camera should handle that just fine. I installed this kit in my Volvo XC90. When I bought the XC90, I knew it was going to need a backup camera. Since I had installed a different Auto-Vox kit in my last car, I decided to get this one & give it a shot. Installation was easy with the small connectors. It went pretty quick. Basically all there is to it was to tap into the reverse light bulb circuit for power, mount the camera (has strong 3M type tape so no drilling), run the cable to the front of the vehicle, and then plug in the monitor and mount where you want it. Finding the correct reverse wire is probably the hardest part. Google can help here or look for an access panel behind the rear lights and take a look which color the wires are for the reverse bulb. In my vehicle, I made the connection right behind the bulb holders inside the rear cargo area. The kit included โt-tap connectorsโ so there is no cutting, taping, soldering etc. needed. Easy enough that pretty much anyone could install this kit & wouldnโt need a bunch of tools to do it.

Easier to install
I purchased this backup camera mainly because it enables installation with just one power source instead of 2. You do pay extra for the convenience of connecting to just one set of wires. Other than that - this is just a standard backup camera and monitor. Image is ok - but there is little a bit of flickering on the screen - which is more or an annoyance than a hinderance. While installing, I tapped into the wiring for the reverse lights in my trunk as instructed. Make sure you check the polarity of the wires - you really don't want to mix them up. The splice connectors that come with this are pure junk. Both connectors failed to splice - and I've used splice connectors before without issue. Thankfully, I had some butt connectors at home which allowed me to finish the installation. After it was all installed, I discovered that the switch to turn the grids on and off was defective. I ordered a replacement which had a functional switch. Overall, this is not a high end system, but it is functional and easier to install than others that require splicing into the backup wires and the fuse box. Just wish the QC was better.... ***update*** Seller reached out to me after reading my review to try and rectify the flickering. After a few emails back and forth, they sent out a new monitor. It was shipped from overseas - so took a couple of weeks, but it arrived as promised. Monitor appears to be a bit brighter which makes the image a bit clearer. I'm guessing the thin wires for the kit have something to do with the power and signal. Nonetheless, it is functional and better than not having a camera. Also, very pleased with the seller for their communication and efforts to rectify and work out a solution.

Value for Money
I didn't know what to expect from a $50 back-up camera but was pleasantly surprised. this particular camera is a wired device which means you have to run the cable from the rear tail light backup light to the dashboard where you'll mount the camera. The instructions are easy to follow and in overall installation is easy too. In my case, I ran the wire harness underneath my truck and in under the king cab door on the left side. Ran the harness under the molding and up to the dash. It took about an hour to install. The camera itself sits in the middle on the license plate bracket, in my case. The end result is a backup camera that works. the 4" screen is easy to see and the picture is clear. A little less clear at night but still enough to see. There is a little switch on the harness where it hooks to the tail light that you can use to turn on the backup guide. I use it. The guide itself doesn't turn like in OEM equipment and maybe the more expensive auto vox models have it. The picture blurs to almost unreadable when it rains. That's the only downside. I've had it installed for over a month and now that I am used to it, I like it a lot more. I really like it when I put my boat in the water. It gives a clear view of both sides of the trailer. Great value for the money.

Great little backup camera monitor for the car. Makes backing up safer and easier!
I purchased this to add to my 2007 Mazdaspeed6 as it has a ton of features but really only lacked a back up camera. The camera and display came in a very nice padded box that kept everything separate and protected. The camera was smaller than I thought and it actually works out well to stay out of sight. The install of this camera was not too hard, but you will need to make sure you leave enough room to bend the camera so that it points down enough to be effective and match up to the guide lines on the display. I originally mounted it too close to my license plate and could not bend the camera to show the bumper. The wires for routing and flexible and the kit comes with everything that you need to use to install the power and the signals. I opted to use some T-taps instead in case I had to make some changes it didn't force me to remove the clips and risk damaging the factory wires. The camera is only a monitor and does not record but that was not a requirement. The display does have adjustments to the contrast and brightness to help with the conditions where you are installing. The display also has some sun guards around the screen to help prevent glares when using in the sun or with overhead lights. Overall, this kit did exactly what I needed it to do. It added a much needed backup camera to my car and the display and camera are small enough that it will not affect driving or normal activities.

5 Stars ! Great Camera and Kit Excellent Picture quality Easy Installation
Great Back-up Camera Kit easy to install Excellent Picture quality and Price. I went with the wired version and installed it in a chevy uplander minivan. The only issue was due to the hatch and routing the cables through the existing factory cable pass throughs I had to add wiring to reach the Reverse lights and ultimately fell short of reaching the center of the dash where we wanted to mount the camera. I ended up splicing into the wiring and adding 5' of cable. If the company could send me a new cable kit with an extension kit or a longer version of the normal wiring kit (at least 5' more) that goes with the regular kit, it would be Greatly appreciated. Once again I'm very pleased with this product works great and excellent price. Note I didn't rate the night vision as I haven't used it at night. Also I was a little disappointed that I didn't see the colored distance grids that I have seen on most back-up cameras to tell you how close you are to an object.

Great Product / Easy Install
After doin some research and watching some videos I decided on this camera. I mounted it in a 2003 Tundra and it works great! Very easy installation especially after watching a video completed by a reviewer. Running the wire under the truck was the most complicated part and that was a snap. Plenty of cable with 4 feet left over. I mounted in center console area and it is not only a clean looking install (no wires showing) but it is in a great viewing spot. Looks custom. My wife commented on how much improved her backing is in tight places with the truck. Customer service is excellent as I had a few questions. They are awesome. Some of you may want to go with the wireless camera to avoid running a wire under the vehicle but it was a snap. I covered the plug with electrical tape to avoid dirt in connectors. I then ran the path every 3-4 feet with bailing wire and then pulled the plug and wire through the path selected. Easy connection to backup light, after checking schematic for Positive/negative wires. My Tundra is still very sound and a strong runner, no need to upgrade many thousands of $'s for a truck with backup camera!!! Oh, by the way I am a retired guy and can still crawl under my truck!! Cheers

Solid product from an amazing company
I've had this camera for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier. It was a very straightforward DIY install to get up and running. The picture on the display is crystal clear and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it also works at night. Even in low light levels it's very easy to see behind my vehicle when backing up and parking. The company (AUTO-VOX) also has amazing customer service. Their great service actually lead me to write this review. When I reached out to them for support they were very quick to reply and also extremely helpful. They seem to make quality products and stand behind them. I also have a dash camera from AUTO-VOX and am very happy with that purchase as well. If you're looking for quality products at a competitive price, I would definitely recommend giving these guys a shot.

Excellent price, quality & functionality.
One of the main reasons I chose & installed this product was because I could install the monitor low down on the centre console to escape the glare, which if mounted higher makes it difficult to see the image. Fitting the product was very easy & simple, functionality excellent.

Great Car Backup Camera with good results!
The car backup camera arrived very quickly with amazon prime, just got it the day after I ordered it. I came very well packaged with a nice box with all the items well protected and an outer Amazon box. Inside the box there was: A monitor and a mount to attached it to the front window for you to view the footage while driving A camera, to be fitted at the back of the car A very long video cable, clamps and straps to connect the monitor at the front of the car to the camera that you have to fit at the back of the car A useful user manual explaining how everything needs to be fitted One year of warranty Instructions in the manual are easy to follow. The car backup camera can be mounted quite quickly, putting the monitor at the front and and the camera at the rear of the car. The cable to connect the monitor and the camera was more than enough for my car, which is a standard size car. But the cable is very long, so it can be fitted to big cars as well. The display is very clear and the mount attaches very well to the window. I would recommend this product as it is competitively priced and good value for money. Unlike other car dash cameras that do not have a rear camera, with this one as the camera is placed at the rear of the car it is easier to get a better quality and footage if you are involved in an accident where you get hit from behind or a case of hit and run. This way it is easier to get the plate of the other car and what has happened. As I got it recently, I still have to check how much storage it allows and a few other features, but overall I find this is a great car backup camera which captures excellent footage and it is easy to mount. Very useful for car owners.
