They really are fabulous
These boxes snap together with ease. I called customer service because I had a question about mounting them to a 4/4The owner answered and was so nice. He talked me right through it, and then I put the other three up myself. Very well made. I will be getting more.

Winters here can be pretty brutal what with wind
This is my first season here in SE Michigan trying the "DuckHut" nesting system. Winters can be pretty brutal what with wind, rain and snow and some five-year old wooden boxes I had mounted before were actually on shaky legs last year. Since I had them mounted on galvanized conduit stuck into the river-bottom, the constant push of downstream ice flows in the spring was also threatening to send them all out into the lake. The thin-wall conduit I used was additionally being subjected to repetitive freeze-thaw expansion which swelled the metal at the water line further risking collapse. I decided it was time for a better box or at least a better mounting system. I think I found the answer to both problems with the "DuckHut".I now have three of them with a pair on one pole ( the bracket system they supply allows for two Duck-Huts to be back-to-back mounted on a single pole) and a single Hut on its own post sunk into the river bottom near the opposite bank. One of the pair on the near shore has been outfitted with a nestbox camera and I'm waiting for a couple of Wood Ducks to take up residence. There is a nesting pair nearby that's using an old wooden box on my neighbor's dock so hopefully they'll have friends come by here soon if Wood Ducks tolerate the presence of their own kind in near proximity.I especially like the way the DuckHut units are designed to clamp to the suggested EMT pipe. The custom bracket makes attachment secure yet removable and the nest-trays themselves are easily accessible for cleaning before nesting begins again nest year. There may-well be a pair of "Woodies" in the DuckHut across the river but I won't know for sure until I go to check it out well after I expect any young to have fledged. I see where someone had issues mounting their DuckHut(s) and buyers need to be aware there is a difference in these galvanized-steel pipes. The bracket/clamp that came with my DuckHuts fits perfectly with what's called 2 inch electro-metallic tubing or 2" EMT as they call it in the business. Sure, there may be "Rigid" and "Thin-Wall" or other designators or what have you but to be certain, once your DuckHut arrives, take the clamp piece with you to the hardware store and make sure you get a post that works with it. I use ten-foot lengths but would have taken fifteens if they had them. I also used one of those "post slammers" which is basically a hollow section of 3" diamaeter pipe with a cap or plug on one end and a couple handles welded on the sides. You slide the thing over the top of your post and then slide "bang" it up and down until the post is driven down to the desired depth. The DuckHut post clamp is a two-piece unit so you do not have to slide it on over the end of the post in case your persistent "whacking" flares out the end a bit. The "post slammer" thing is also great since you don't want to be standing in a canoe or row-boat with a sledge-hammer in your hand while installing your boxes.Only time will tell how these work out in the long run but for now...I'm VERY HAPPY with the product and look forward to doing my part to increase the number of cavity-nesting waterfowl that we all enjoy.Fred KaluzaHarrison Township, MI

As far as the comment that the mounting bracket clips do not fit the recommended pole size I think that may be more of ...
I'm here to set the record straight on the Duckhut. I own 50 acres of land with three lakes and I've always set up wooden wood duck houses as part of my wildlife exemption. Two years ago I stumbled across the Duckhut on Amazon. Of course I was skeptical to try a plastic nesting box for a wood duck. But I purchased one anyway and set it up next to my other high-end wooden wood duck houses. After two years of observation plus this year (2017) I can tell you hands-down that the wood ducks prefer this box plastic box over the wooden ones. I cannot give an explanation why they just do. Not only is it the first duck house chosen at the beginning of the season it's also the first duck house they choose after the first generation leaves the houses in the 2nd nesting time in mid summer. I'm back on Amazon today to purchase another Duckhut and I can see that the company has made some improvements to the older model I have. Namely that the bottom nesting drawer no longer slides out but drops down and is deeper. I agree that this should make the box much easier to monitor. Also after reading the previous reviews left behind by other customers I have to say I flat out disagree. The company individuals I have spoken to have bent over backwards to be polite and help me out in anyway possible with any questions I had. As far as the comment that the mounting bracket clips do not fit the recommended pole size I think that may be more of an operator error than a design flaw. The 2 halves of the clips that go around the pole are not supposed to touch each other but instead have a space between them where the screws pass-through. In summary I have no connection to this company whatsoever I'm just another guy trying to attract wildlife to my land. But I can tell you that these ducks houses are a real winner and should outlast my wooden boxes by years and are 100% preferred by the wood ducks themselves. Last year after the wood ducks left for the season I had a yellow bellied whistling duck nest inside the Duckhut even though all the other wooden duck house were empty. I watched this duck fly on top an look inside each empty house until it choose the Duckhut. If I could give the Duckhut more than a five stars rating I would!!

The Duck Hut is excellent but the mount does not fit a 2" anything
The Duck Hut is excellent but the mount does not fit a 2" anything. I had to screw the first half of the mounting bracket directly into the 2" pole leaving the second half of the two part mounting brackets off. Other than that- well designed.

Couldn't be better
I bought four of these boxes and two predator guards. I spoke with the company by phone prior to ordering and their customer service and assistance was spectacular. The boxes and predator guards were unbelievably simple to put together and put up. I couldn't be more happy

Beware of Mounting Instructions
The DuckHut house is good but I worry the weight of the ducks may fall out the bottom. The instuctions say to mount on 2 inch metal conduit. The 2 inch conduit I had was too large for the mount bracket and I had to return the conduit for a PVC conduit that worked.

This company is not easy to deal with
Didn't fit on suggested size of pole. There was missing hardware in the box. Has not attracted any birds. Overpriced when you can buy others that work for less money. Birds are attracted to the wood types rather than plastic. This company is not easy to deal with!!

This is one of the best products made
This is one of the best products made. Packaged safely and easy installation. After placing in our lake we had wood ducks stop by and check out within 2 hours. They moved in the next day. Would order again and we highly recommend.
