As pretty as everybody says . . .here's a tip to make it even better.
This is just as beautiful as every reviewer says so I'll add a tip on making it even better. Each of the pinwheels is off balance, that is they tend to balance out at the same location on the bottom when they stop spinning. So a light breeze will start them rocking back and forth until it is strong enough to spin them in a complete circle. This is not a defect, it would just be impossible to fine tune something like this in mass production. Few people would probably never know or care about this, but my spinner is directly in front of my window so I find this a little annoying. To solve this problem I placed colored paper clips around the edges until I was able to obtain a completely free wheeling, balanced spin. This keeps the wheels from settling to the same place when the wind stops, and it thus requires less wind to get them spinning. My other problem is that the day after I purchased this the price dropped from $61 to $25, a $36 difference. This has nothing to do with the appearance or quality of the pinwheel so I'm not deducting a point because of that. It would seem, however, that whomever controls the price of this item would owe a refund to the person who was on the receiving end of such a drastic price drop. I'm exploring that.Update:When I contacted Amazon via online chat they immediately issued me a $36 refund, no fuss, no muss. This is why they mangle the competition.

Love this spinner. A little too expensive but nice. Thanks

Pretty, But Fragile.
Smaller than expected. Seems more fragile than the other yard spinners we have that cost a few dollars less. After assembly it would not turn into the wind.....I had to sand off a burr on the support. I felt like I had to be extremely careful in assembling this in order not to break it. It look "pretty" and does what it is supposed to do now. I feel this is too expensive for what I got - I have 2 larger "monarch" spinners that are sturdier and larger, and that were $8 less in cost.

Love the kite, but the stake is useless..
7/29/13 This is very nicely made. Very bright and colorful! The only thing to note is that the stake really is not long enough or hardy enough to hold the kite up. Unless you are driving the stake into concrete it is not going to stay up. Using the stake that came with the kite the kite was down in a few minutes. We drove a 4' plastic covered metal stake into the ground about a foot and then secured the kite's stake to it with a plastic cable tie. I am in New Jersey and we have had one heavy duty rain storm after the next since Spring with hardy wind. By attaching the kite's stake to a secondary stake the way I describe the kite has not budged during any of our storms including one yesterday where we got about 7"+ of rain in a few hours and had heavy duty wind. Kite is still in tact and did not budge!Even though the stake provided is inadequate I still feel the kite deserves 5 stars as it is nicely made and does spin like crazy. We like it and would buy another and give it as a gift.

Skydog Kites Rainbow Directional Pinwheel
Nice looking and well made. The directional part and the large wheel both work very well in the lightest of breezes but the small and medium wheels don't turn without a strong wind. Sort of disappointing because of that aspect.2 Year Update: So, I've had this in my backyard for 2 years now and it's still going strong although the colors are fading and the material is fraying. One nice thing is that as it has aged it seems to take less breeze to spin the small wheels.

Nice
very pretty, sturdy and lasts remarkably well! I live in San fernando valley, and have had this for at least 3 years. I love it. I have had to reinforce the stake which is understandable after all this time in the weather...(it is plastic)...but otherwise it is really sturdy. I love seeing the wind catch it. I bought another for my brother who lives in TX, he put it on his roof and it blew away within a month, I bought him another and he did the same thing and it blew away again! So, I would not put it on your roof, it is after all only plastic and fabric. It's not a REAL windmill. It's perfect for in the garden and catching a breeze now and then. Doesn't seem to scare away my birds either.

No better enhancement to any garden!
We have had a couple of pinwheel "spinners" before this one. They all did well, but they were heavily constructed, and their very weight caused them to self-destruct" (eventually) in high winds which are somewhat prevalent here in Wisconsin (Chicago ain't got nothin' on us!). The Skydog pinwheel is solidly made without the use of thick, dense nylon fabric. The nylon vanes are sensitive enough to get it spinning well in the lightest of winds, but light enough to keep the plastic mounting post from vibrating so violently that it breaks or forced the base out of the ground. As expected, it is both beautiful and mesmerizing in motion, and becomes the focal point of any garden setting. You will get many seasons of enjoyment from this pinwheel. I can't think of anything else that could add more interest and enhancement to your yard.

It Spins and Spins and Spins
I bought this in the early spring. It's now July, and it's been holding up well. A couple of days had high winds, and it stayed together. The middle wheel spins the opposite direction of the other two. And it spins to face the wind. It doesn't take much wind to make it spin.It has a good strong stake. Stomp it into the ground and then insert whatever the heck this thing is called.I live in Texas. It's summertime, and we've been having temperatures about 100. So far, after the first couple of months, it doesn't seem to have faded. Here's a photo of my dog looking at it.I like it enough that I am considering buying another one for my backyard.

Taste the Breezy Rainbow!
It may not taste like Skittles but this spinner is as close to a visual level of awesomeness as Skittle to one's taste buds. It's more affordable than the Tie Dye version plus the spectrum of hues are ideal for my shady backyard where it needs to stand out with a saturated pop of color. The tie dye would look too muted and blend in to the rest of the dark background had I went that route. The tail is sensitive to wind direction change so the wheels spin continuously until the breeze literally dies off. It makes a roaring sound in stronger winds so I hope that is enough noise to scare off critters from digging up my bulbs and eating my young hostas/bergenias. Good value, definitely would consider purchasing it again for others.

This item is hard not to gaze at after a while. The only downside is it is a little pricy, but the up side is its fun to watch!!!
