A sweet tale
This is the first John Yeoman book that I have read. I discovered it through my love of Quentin Blake, and having enjoyed this one so much, I may just have to go and look for others by him. This is a sweet, funny tale of a heron and a crane. Two birds who are both lonely, but also stubborn. When crane decides that he would like to be married, he approaches heron. But it doesn't quite go to plan, and she rebuffs him. What follows is a tale of two birds, who react to situations quickly, but then come to reconsider their words/actions.Personally, I thought that the ending of the tale was quite brilliant. It may not satisfy everyone, but it can be a great way to encourage young readers to imagine what happened, and why.
