Yes, it comes with a pull cord. After assembling the shade, you will need to thread the cord through the pulley system. Just follow the printed instructions.

The string is twisted cotton and is very long when the shade is unrolled.

These shades will work on alumawood. You will probably need to drill holes where the shade brackets will be located. I had to drill into my metal frame canopy to do the same. Good luck!

Sorry, I can't answer that question. We do not have monsoon rain here where I live. It does handle wind ok, but not sure about the wind with monsoon rains. I would probably roll it up in those storms. Sorry I can't be more specific.
