Great for an unusual application I had
I have an antique non-working fireplace in my study into which I placed an electric firelog/space heater. Most of the time I ran the imitation flame only, but the flickering mechanism inside the firelog made an annoying noise that made quiet pursuits like reading difficult (on those occasions when I ran the heater the fan noise drowned out the noise from the flicker mechanism). I got the idea of removing the existing flicker mechanism, and placing two LED flame bulbs behind the firelog in its place. Some electrical "surgery" that took a couple of hours accomplished this (people not handy with electrical wiring should not try this). Now from inside the firelog there is steady illumination that makes the fake logs look partially burnt, while from behind the firelog the two flame bulbs mounted in these lamp bases create the impression of flame. And it is QUIET. These lamp bases are meant to be attached to a solid surface into which screw holes can be drilled. This arrangement has solved a problem of many years' duration and I am very pleased with it.

Look Great, But Very Lightweight Base
These polished metal chrome bases look great and they fit in with '70s and '80s decor of my house. My only issue is the lack of heft in the hollow base. They slide around anytime the cord is touched, and the on/off switch is on the cord, so you have to reposition them each time you turn them on or off. The base is wide enough that they won't tip over; they just scoot around easily. It's not the end of the world, but something to be aware of depending on how you'll use them. I'm modifying mine with some stick-on wheel weights under the base. +Nice 1970s / 1980s Chrome Look +Sturdy On/Off Switch +A Good Value -Base is Very Light

Not as described: not made for desktop, only wall
These are described as “desktop lamp bases,” but they’re designed for wall mounting. What’s the difference? 1) The base has no backing, leaving the metal hardware exposed and sticking out a couple cm past the base. The lamp does not sit flat because of this defect, nor is it weighted at the base. 2) Because the edges are sharp, it will inevitably result in a scratched table/shelf surface, particularly when it wobbles back and forth due to lack of weighting and exposed hardware. I am placing mine on cork trivets and placing them behind other items to disguise/remedy these issues, but if you are looking for tabletop lamps, I recommend you look elsewhere. There are better options even at this price point.
