Motion Pro 08-0357 Rim Protector

I keep these in my flat kit on the bike. They work great. I have black wheels and these stop my spoons from mating them. Light, compact, inexpensive… no reason not to have a set!

Well made and effective to keep your rims from being damaged by tire irons.

These work great. At first, I thought "why would I need the rope?" but while changing my rear tire, I lost it inside the tire... pulled it right back out. They snap into place and stay put. Only downside I had was that while they worked for a 16" tire, on the 21" with not much room for the tire to stretch, I would have liked that these weren't as thick. Something to think about if you are doing a 21" tire or bigger... but if you are doing that, you have bigger problems! Still struggling to get mine changed by myself. But for smaller tires, these are great and I am glad I got two sets. Definitely worth purchasing.

Just used these for a 120/70 front tire change ... worked well, no issues. I also own another competing style (red in color, sold in 3-pack typically here on Amazon), and in comparison these are a bit harder, and the slot where you clip to the lip of the rim is a bit more open. But they perform equally well. I've seen reviews where tools like this look cut up and destroyed after an install, and I suspect that's due to using the wrong tool to spoon, or using no (or inadequate) lube. The Honda brand aerosol lube is awesome, but you must use something. Besides the fact it makes the job easier, it's going to extend life of whatever you are using to protect the rim.

They work

I used these to change front and back on my super moto and love them and had my full body weight on them several times. DO NOT cheap out and only buy one pack, I ended up scratching a 600$ rim because of my own ignorance and neglect! I bought another pack of these and lined my rims in quarters and it was perfect! Some times it can be tricky to move these with pressure of the tire pressing it down but a little soap solution and you'll be rolling in no time. BUY more than one pack I was using a 17 inch rim so bigger will require more. Never had one break but if one does I will have a back up since they are ultra affordable! Get the motion pro tire irons with these and double up on those also nothing like having the extra hand or tool when you need it when you ALMOST have the tire off or on! Keep in mind if you are doing tire change by yourself that tires that have been on the rim a while can be a real bear to get off so make sure you have all the tools you need or you will be bike less and have to wait till you get what you need before you can continue!

I was unable to use these yet fortunately but they & 3 tire spoons are going in my "road bag" I take with me on longer trips. I want to be able to swap out a tire even if it gives me hell. TIP: LET YOUR WHEELS & TIRES SIT OUT IN THE DIRECT SUN FOR A GOOD COUPLE HOURS bEFORE YOU DO THE JOB! Let them cool for a good few minutes before you start working!!!! THANK ME LATER.

Works OK does the job. Although it's designed for motorcycles works on some car wheels too, it hasn't had a real test yet (e.g. 205/40 tyres) I'll see what happens but hers hoping.
