Updated: light is bright twice as much. Needs 18650 batteries and charger when ordering this light
Update: July 2019Light is still going strong. No issues after 2 years. They lowered thr price since I bought my two light. They are down to $39 each. Avery good price for what you get. This review is for the ThruNite TN12 2016 XP-L Neutral White EDC LED Flashlight...For the price this is the best deal going. It performs as good as lights costing twice as much.Color Tint: I prefer neutral white (NW) and thus one is truly NW.Brightness:-I do not have a way to test actual lumens, but from my experience with other lights verified by those that do have the means to verify lumens, this light is definitely a +1000 lumen light.Output Levels: -are well spaced from 2-5. 1 to level 2 jumps quite a bit due to level 1 being firefly mode. Firefly is truly a low level light that is very useful for getting up in the middle of the night for a munchy or latrine break. I have other lights with low level outputs that are brighter than they need to be. This one is just perfect when going from just woke up, to you are now in the bathroom.Throw/Flood/Spotlight: -the beam throws a nice hot spot with a good deal of flood light. It makes searching an area much easier than lights which use a spotlight with minimal flood. -the beam cannot be adjusted but thanks to the design of the reflectors, you get good center brightness and the flood covers your peripheral vision areas quite nicely.Build Quality/Strength:-the quality of the metal is obviously very good. The knurling could be a bit more aggressive. I plan on putting non-skid tape on several contact spots --Tail cap has flanges that protect the on/off button and also allow the flashlight to be stood on its end. The flanges also have slots for attaching lanyards/wrist straps if desired. The flashlight comes with one that I like. NOTE: the tail cap appears to be the weakest link with this flashlight. I am comparing the TN12 against the Fenix PD35Tac. The TN12 rubber cover seems a little thinner and the button not as robust. Not a deal breaker by any means. I am trusting the warranty to have my back on this point.--The threading on both ends of the body are well machined and thread smoothly. O-rings are snugly fitted. --The lens material is very sturdy and should withstand very rough treatmentErgonomics: -I find the length of the light to be a perfect fit in MY hand. When gripped, the level change button is directly under my thumb. -The ribbed areas are right where they need to be to feel comfortable and to provide additional grip -I do not use the clip that came with the light. They tend to make flashlights uncomfortable to hold.I read several reviews where the owners had trouble with the light build/defects. I will update this review if I have any troubles or discover more positives. The old saying "you get what you pay for" does not apply as much these days. Many American products are over priced or crippled so you have to buy the next more expensive version. I am talking minor improvements, not evolutionary improvements. Many lights such as SureFire sell lights with only one level of brightness and have the nerve to charge as much as other lights having at least 3 levels of lighting. If I received value for the money I spend, I would buy more American products. I do not see the value for the dollar spent for many (not all) American products. This light is in the quality and brightness levels as the Fenix PD35 TAC for almost half the price. I own the PD 35 Tac and like it, but would have bought the TN12 2016 had I discovered it first. This light does not have a tactical mode but most users do not need or use this mode.

Good as a Mountain Bike Light
I wanted something I could mount to my mountain bike handlebars if I was caught late out on the trail or wanted to start a night ride. I wanted it to be a handheld light so I could take it off and explore the trail ahead on foot if required, or if I had crashed catastrophically. This fits the bill perfectly with excellent build quality and the ability to recharge through a USB-C port. Battery life is good and is more than enough to get me back home, and if I'm out for longer, I have an extra charged battery. Controls are simple with a single button to turn on and off as well as switch modes by holding or double tapping for turbo. I would say this is more of a flooder than a thrower, which is what I want as a mountain bike light.

Great little flashlight with fantastic capability
Fantastic little flashlight! Very bright with decent throw, and it's size allows for easy pocket carry. I don't edc this light, but do carry it around my small 6 acre farm around dusk for spotting wildlife and doing chores. In turbo mode I can easily make out objects at 300+ feet. I bought the xp-l nw version, and I prefer the more natural color representation over the cw version (but I guess you lose some throw and lumens). The mode I use most often is the super low "firefly". At .4 lumens, it is enough to allow you to easily see or read in the darkness, while preserving your night vision. Perfect for late night maneuvering around the house without disturbing anyone. The availability of a super low mode and a super high mode make this flashlight very versatile, and all of the 5 brightness levels have their use. It's not very often that the turbo mode is needed, but it's nice to have it when it is.It comes with no batteries. I power mine with keeppower 3400mah protected18650 and a Nitecore d2 charger I got at illumn.com for a great price. Much better than cr123 imo.Very straightforward, small, yet powerful and efficient flashlight. This is a great deal at $50.

You need this light!
Ok, I'm going to review this light after 2 weeks of use. This is my first Light of this type, Tactical LED. (I guess that's what they call it). So far I think the light is awesome! I use the light every night for about a half hour - hour. I am carrying it as my EDC flashlight. It came with a nice belt holster with a D-ring (for other hanging possibilities). It replaced my 2 AA cell mini-mag (R.I.P.). Honestly I'm not sure why you have a .4 Lumen setting though. Here are the 5 levels (modes). Firefly: .4 Lumen. Low: 18 Lumen. Med: 175 Lumen. High: 435 Lumens. Turbo: 1100 Lumen and Strobe: 1100 Lumen. I live in the woods and this thing lights up the place and with the NW color you can see more colors than CW. Sometimes this actually gets warm on the head part (where the LED is) when your on turbo for a little while. However, I checked the battery 18650 and it wasn't warm at all. I figured that I bought the best flashlight out there (arguable especially compared to the Fenix PD35TAC) so I wanted the best batteries out there. I did my research and bought 2 Orbtronics 3500mah 18650 cells. I am trying them out now. So far, I love the flashlight and battery combo. I'll update my review when the battery dies or that I have some other comment. Peace!Update: 12/26/2016. I had bought that Fenix pd35Tac flashlight for sventy-3... It broke in less than a month. Bought another ThruNite TN12 2016 v6 flashlight in Cool White this time. Using 2 Del123a lithium cell X2. Nice and bright! Down with Fenix!!Update 12/29/2016The one that I just ordered was DOA. Dead on Arrival. So, of course Amazon refunded it with no problem. I did order it again and will be here on the 31st (Saturday). Hopefully this will work like my original that I carry everyday.

Blind Your Enemies
Gave this as a Christmas present, tested it first.Good hand-feel, seems sturdy, has a nice weight. I like the range of settings, though I couldn't tell the difference between the top two (probably because I tested it indoors). I can see the lowest lumen setting being very handy for working behind tvs, cabinets, etc, as it casts enough light to see what you're doing without accidentally blinding yourself.Note that this does not work with common household batteries. It requires a specialised battery (known as 18560), which is not included in all versions. Budget extra for batteries and a charger if you don't have them already.

Very good, bright and practical.
Really good flashlight. It has five different levels of brightness, the brightest being pretty damn bright. Also with it’s flashing and SOS features. It’s compact and small for it’s power and all in all a very good flashlight!

Turbo - 1000lumens, runs for 1h 10minHigh - 500 lumens, runs for 2h 55minMedium - 200lumens, runs for 8;h 30minLow - 60lumens, runs for 29h 15minEco - 8lumens, runs for 140hoursStrobe - 1000lumensサイズ:約139(L) × 25.4mm (D)重量:約89g(電池重量含まない)●ThruNite TN12 2016 XP-L - Cree XP-L V6Turbo (1100lm/95min),High (435lm/11.8hrs),Medium (175lm/11.8hrs)Low (18lm/5.5days)Firefly (0.4lm/74days).Strobe (1100lm/3.8hrs)サイズ L143mm*ボディ直径φ25.4mm重量 86g(電池なし)もうひとつの大きな決め手は、タイムセールでさらに安く買えたことFENIXと比較し55%位で買えました。

Good light for the price, would buy again
Had this for a couple months now and use it daily. I bought this to use mainly while crossing dark intersections on my daily walk home but it's seen use camping and working around the house. It's very bright and throws light pretty far (easily lights up trees a city block or more away). The modes easy to use, I really like the lowest moonlight mode for looking for lost objects in small places. The turbo mode can get very hot and there doesn't seem to be any automatic step down from turbo to high so keep an eye on that. The pocket clip was an important feature for me, this one doesn't look like anything special but so far has held up very well. The strobe is pretty disorientating if you need that feature. I've only used it once to get the attention of a motorist who didn't seem like they were going to stop for me.If you're willing to invest in a couple good 18650 cells and a nice charger (which I did and am really happy with)NiteCore D2 (New 2015 Version) Intellicharge Universal Smart Battery Charger with ELECCESSORY(TM) Car Charger for Li-ion / IMR / Ni-MH/ Ni-Cd, Black this is a great light for the price. Recommended.
