nippon kodo Kayuragi Incense Sticks - Sandalwood, Japanese Quality Incense

I discovered this about ten years ago when a friend brought this as a gift for me when she was visiting from Japan. She found out I liked incense and wanted to introduce me to something from her culture. It smells amazing, lingers after it's been burnt and comes with a stand intended for this type of incense. I've seen coffin style burners with a metal grate that I'll probably try with this so that nothing gets wasted.

Gotta say, these particular Sandalwood Fragrance Incense sticks from Japan may not last long burning, HOWEVER have a lasting beautiful fragrance that actually lingers on for a while! Would Highly recommend if you wish to have a wonderful fragrance in your Bedroom or living room.

Is this what real sandalwood smells like? If so, it's absolutely divine!! I love it! The moment I first opened the package and got hit with the scent, I just had this moment where my brain was like, "Oh. OH. HOLY CRAP."I'm used to the conventional incense sold in stores, so I totally wasn't expecting it. I can't stop opening the package just to take a sniff, it just smells so niiiiiiiice. It makes me want to roll around in it until my skin soaks the scent up or something. This doesn't smell anything like previous "sandalwood" I've burned before...and the box it comes in looks really nice! It even came rolled up inside a reference paper of other scents the company sells.It is smaller, but I think it's worth the price. There's no core, so it doesn't have that pungent, burnt wood smell underneath. You know how some incense sticks smell great in the package, but smell awful once it's burning? These aren't like that. It smells just like as it comes in the package!Because of that, the scent feels lighter and less pungent, however it does burn FAST. But the scent is strong when it burns, and once it's all burnt up, it still lingers in the air like really nice, subtle perfume. Whenever I turn my head, I catch it and it's absolutely wonderful. For reference, I burnt these around 4:40-ish and it's 1:38 AM now, and I can still smell it.On the downside, the sticks are fragile because of the lack of wooden core, so you'll have to be careful handling it, and again, it burns really fast. I'm not sure how it might smell in a larger space, but I burned these in a decently-sized bedroom. Also, these are fairly expensive for incense sticks, so the smaller size and fast burning might be something to think about if you're strapped for cash.I kinda bought these on a whim, but now I'm hooked. I think I'll prefer this style of incense from now on!

I have been purchasing nippon kodo Kayuragi Incense Sticks - Sandalwood for over 10 years since I discovered it. It was a gift from my friend. It has just right scent, very pleasing scent. It comes with a lovely box and mini square burner but I do not need them for each purchase.... I have accumulated over fifty of the boxes and burners. I wish I can purchase incense only as bulk in the simple package. The incense is relatively pricey that I am paying for the boxes and burners... I use the incense everyday in the morning when I meditate and chant.

Recently a neighbor of mine took up smoking cigarettes. Despite being single homes, we are closer together and he favors a spot between our houses, about 20 feet from my living room windows. If there is even a hint of a westerly wind my entire house reeks like cigarettes. I never was a fan of incense, but had only encountered the cheepy stuff years ago. Candles weren't doing the trick so I set off on a journey to find a quality incense that wouldn't be as offensive as the cig smoke. I decided to give nippon kodo kayuragi a try based on the great reviews. It absolutely did not disappoint. It arrived perfectly intact and well packaged in a tidy little box. The box also included a small holder. While the incense only burns for about 15-20 minutes, it is more than enough to fill my 800sqft beach bungalow while also being very low smoke. The scent lingers for a good amount of time. For the first time in weeks I don't smell cigarette smoke. The sandlewood scent is very pleasant and relaxing, and I had absolutely no headaches or sneezing. I also tried the orange and LOVE that as well. I have wasted so much time and money with expensive candles, I think I am hooked on these wonderful incense. I highly recommend.

This is a great sandalwood incense fragrance. I love that the fragrance lingers in the air even after the incense has burned, and I love the little wooden box it comes in. I could smell the incense as soon as I removed it from the outer packaging. Unfortunately, the incense stick is shorter than most, and it has no wooden end for ease of removal from my incense burner (I have to use a thin tool to remove the *unburned end* of the incense stick, which is essentially wasted; it's the only way I can put another incense stick inside the holder of my incense burner). So while it smells great, for me one purchase was enough.

This sandalwood incense is fantastic. The scent is subtle, not overpowering like some I've bought in the past. There is no bamboo inner core, so it's not overly smoky. It does burn faster than other incense sticks, but the scent lingers a long time. And it comes in an adorable wooden box, with an incense holder. I love this company, and have their narcissus incense, too, which is fabulous.
