D'Artagnan: The Sequel to the Three Musketeers
This is one of the best suites to "The Three musketeers": it explains the origins of the Vicomte de Bragelonne, the son of Arhos and how he ended being raised by Athos. The book itself, the one I bought, was new and with no issues at all.

Great sequel to the first Muskeeteer book!
Yes, an excellent sequel to the first Musketeer book of Dumas, and written well in the style of Dumas too.I would have given it 5 stars except that my own Musketeer hero, Aramis, has a rather disappointing part in this story. He spends the whole story badly injured, early on apparently dying. This is a theme based on his passion for the Duchesse de Chevreuse in the Dumas book when Aramis becomes distraught and despairing and talking of giving up life when thinking La Chevreuse has lost interest in him. Although using the same theme exactly again in this book works very well in the context of the story, it seems a shame the writer couldn't have found a different theme than my hero being prostrate in bed, talking of dying rather than fighting for his life. Also we learn something about his past which is described in a very heartless way and I was really annoyed about it.Fortunately Aramis discovers he is still loved after all, and La Chevreuse arrives to take care of him. But this means he no longer appears in the story at all other than for a mention of an important matter in their past in which the writer chooses to show both Aramis and La Chevreuse in a way I resent. The rest of the story is about a serious threat to Queen Anne from Richlieu, the arrival of Lord de Winter ask help from our Musketeers to save the Queen, and how Athos comes to adopt the young child Raoul who when adult is a major character in the last 3 Musketeer books. This is all very well done with plenty of swashbuckling and nefarious enemies, with Richlieu featuring prominently

Great find!
What a great find this book was! Being a fan of Dumas' D'Artagnan Romances I jumped at the chance to read this and it was well worth it. Mr. Jones is a wonderful pulp story teller and I strongly recommend this for Musketeer and pulp fiction fans everywhere.
