As Time Goes By is a great book.
Loved this book. Love story, heartbreak, murder, thriller, drama. I Ioved Betsy and Delaney and Willy and Alvirah were wonderful. Can’t wait to read more of the series. I’ve always loved Mary Higgins Clark’s books, but had been several years since I had read any. It won’t be the last.

Boring book ---- one of her worst.
Very disappointed in this book. It was definitely not up to Ms Clark's previous standards.Betsy Grant is accused of murdering her husband Ted Grant......Throughout the story Ms. Clark never missed an opportunity to either imply or explicitly state that the case against Betsy was very strong. She had all of the other characters assuming that Betsy would be convicted..... WHAT!?!?!?!? REALLY?!?!?! On what evidence? The Grants had a primitive alarm system, a missing house key and the alarm code was not really a secret. There was no murder weapon found (prior to Betsy's arrest or trial), and there was no physical evidence that pointed to her being the murderer. The motive was really dumb......she killed her husband because she was tired of caring for him? Ummmmm, throughout the story, she stated that she wanted to keep him at home (out of a nursing home) because she loved him and looked forward to those moments of lucidity. So, suddenly (once she could not longer physically handle him), a nursing home is not a viable option? The alternative motive was even dumber. She killed her husband because she might want to get involved with her former high school sweetheart that she'd met for dinner a few times? Really? Since the husband's life expectancy was minimal, what would be the point of murdering him?The cause of death was strange.....he was hit on the back of the head in such a manner as to not display any external signs. Hmmmmm, might that method of murder point to one of the characters who was a doctor (surgeon) as opposed to the wife who was spending her time lovingly caring for her disabled husband? The protagonist had a stepson with major financial difficulties. This stepson was due to inherit millions upon the death of his father......Just because he had an alibi for the night of the murder; why didn't the police consider the possibility of an accomplice? Maybe the surgeon who had money problems of his own?!?!? Yep...that's what it was. I figured it out immediately and was just waiting for a twist to prove me wrong.....never happened.Hasn't the writer ever heard of "reasonable doubt"? Any decent lawyer could have gotten Betsy off without even breaking a sweat. So, through out the story, I couldn't understand the "strong case" mentality. I kept thinking what strong evidence? There isn't any physical evidence and the circumstantial evidence is really weak. Just a weak plot, kept me from "getting in to the story". I believe that this is the 2nd or maybe the 3rd Mary Higgins Clark book that I was able to put down. Her earlier books were so amazingly written that I would read the entire book in one sitting and then read it again when I was done. This book is not even close to that level of storytelling.Stupid premise, obvious storyline, total lack of suspense, BORING!!!! Where are all the twists and turns that are the hallmark of a Mary Higgins Clark story? This was a very disappointing book from one of my all-time favorite authors.

Predictable But Satisfying
I think I've read all of Mary Higgins Clark's mysteries, and I always enjoy them and come back for more. This is not one of her best books, but it is an appealing story. The two plot lines involve Betsy Grant, a woman on trial for the murder of her husband, a doctor with Alzheimer's, and Delaney Wright, a young TV reporter who is covering the trial and who wants desperately to find her birth mother. To assist in her search, Delaney seeks the help of Alvirah and Willy Meehan, recurring characters in many of Ms. Clark's books, and I found their presence very welcome here. I thought the story was somewhat slow getting started--the trial begins on page 32, but it took a while for it to become compelling. I also found it quite predictable--there was one plot development that I had not anticipated, but most of it was quite easy to figure out. There were several revelations--bombshells to the characters if not the readers--which occurred in the last line of chapters, and we never had the pleasure of seeing how the person reacted to the amazing information. In spite of these flaws, however, I found this an enjoyable story with a satisfying ending. Fans of Mary Higgins Clark will not want to miss it.

M H-C does it again!
I have always enjoyed reading M H-C's novels and this one certainly didn't disappoint! She has a way of pulling you into the story and before you know it you are half way through! In this one we meet Delaney, a young 26 year old news reporter who is desperate to find her birth mother. At the same time she is covering a murder trial and has an i instinct that the defendant is innocent. So begins a race against time to find the real killer. A great read and most enjoyable.

Enjoyable read
Traditional Mary Higgins Clark format, which I always enjoy reading. I did not realise this copy was a 'pocket size paperback book' until it arrived, but no worries, the print was not small. It has joined the rest of my collection to be re read. As with most Mary Higgins Clark novels, the central character is a woman of strength and personality, the male characters are of lesser importance. One mystery is solved long before the end of the book, but that is not a drawback. The court timetable and scenes are interesting to read and probably well researched as they seem authentic. I enjoyed reading this book as it is true to type for MHC.

Absolutely Brilliant!!
As I've read ( I think) all of Mary Higgins Clarke's books I do sometimes find them a little bit predictable, but they never disappoint! I think this is one of her best for a long time. It reminded me a little of the first one I read which was where are the children, in the way that several things happen all at once in the last few minutes of the book and it all comes together in a big explosion!! As I said a little predictable but enough twists and turns to keep you hooked!
