Heavy, Short, And Giving It A Shot! (+ How To Shave Better)
As many others have said, yes, this is heavy and short. I understand this is all intentional with this carefully crafted piece. That said, I don't think this is the perfect razor for me, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. I do like it. I know the weight helps with the shave, but I think it is too much for my tastes. It could be longer as well, but I knew what I was getting into.I'm giving it a shot because of two things: It does the job pretty well. You get close shaves for sure! And, it's well made. I feel like it's a machinist's dream. In fact, there is no shaver out there more manly than this one. It's funny. It's manly, but it handles a delicate shaving process with ease. This shaver could have been called The Godfather or The Brando! The one thing I fear is dropping it. It's heavy and I have porcelain and slate countertops in my bathroom. Since I have my moments of clumsiness and we're dealing with soap, I can see myself dropping it: boy this could get expensive! So no, it's not first choice all things considered. Will it last forever and be bequeathed to my children. Maybe. It's well-built, but this all depends on the bolt and weld. If you tighten it too much, yeah, it's gonna bust off. This is a risk with every 2 or 3 piece shaver. (However, this setup beats the butterfly models in my opinion)."Wait, you're going back and forth on me!" I really do hope this review helps you. I'm 85% happy with it. I recommend it if the things I mentioned above don't bother you. But as far as value, that's 100% there! Fantastic piece and pretty tough-looking too.

Good razor, great price!
Short and stubby, but a lot of heft and shaves with ease. I purchased this shaver to replace my previous one I received in a gift box. That one came with a cup, & brush. It was a butterfly opening shaver. It was time for an upgrade.I have stubby sausage fingers. The razor fits my hand well, and I have no issues shaving with it at all. Really only needed to shave with it 2-3 times to get used to it. I prefer these razors over the Mach13's and all the other razors my wife bought me. Mainly because I am a cheap bastard, and there is not much difference in the shave you get between safety razors and those $5 a blade razors. CON regarding the razor? I do not like the manner in which you load the blade. I imagine I will slice myself good in the near future doing this. And I am not sure the razor will last a long long time. The screw which secures the head looks like it will strip eventually. I know! If I want high end metal I need to shell out $$$. But SOOOO not a deal killer!Regardless, I am glad I bought it. I would buy again, and recommend to my friends and family (which I already have done). Just understand this is short, stubby, and heavy. (I think we are not phrasing?) Totally happy.UPDATE: The device I hung my razor from in the shower fell, and so did my razor. The screw stripped/broke. So... 3 stars for quality.

Too Mild For Me .... Blade Exposure Too Small
I'm going to guess that this razor would be great for someone with *really* sensitive skin. It took me 3.5 passes with a Wilkinson Sword blade to get a reasonable shave. Lately, using a few other razors, I've just required 2 passes. So this one is just too much work for me. Much too small of a blade exposure for my skin. And I do not have rough skin; in fact, it is a little sensitive to some sandalwood products. The build quality on the handle seems great, but the head does not seem to be machined too precisely... or maybe the matte process leaves it a little less than optimal. Amazon lists the retail at almost $50, but I don't think it's worth that. I got it on sale for about $16, and I think that's probably a fair price.I'm guessing that this is just the chrome version with a coat of black matte put on it. So maybe that messed up the head geometry, etc. Maybe the chrome version would work well for me. This one was just at a better price point at the time. The Good...I do love the handle. My large hands found it easy to manipulate, with it so thick. The grip was good, as you would expect, when wet.The handle is attractive, and the head did glide over my skin well. It rinsed well, too. While I thought the head could use improvement in construction and finish, one nice thing about it is that it held the blade perfectly aligned as you were tightening it down.Another nice thing is that it can stand on its end without assistance/apparatus.To me, it was heavy, but not too heavy. i liked the weight.

Hefty and Solid
I've been using disposable razors for years and decided I'd like something a little nicer. This one caught my eye because I liked the look of it and some of the reviews described it as having a solid, hefty feel to it. This is absolutely correct. The razor feels like solid metal and the handle fits comfortably in my grip. I noticed a couple of reviews complaining the paint was flaking off the handle and/or head but I've been using mine almost every day for about two months now and haven't had any problems along those or any other lines. Blades are easy to switch out and are held firmly in place. Note to beginners: if you've only ever used disposable or electric razors and want to switch to something like this, you might want to check out a YouTube video or some such. Safety razors are very safe and easy to use but the technique is a little different than with your standard disposable. I definitely recommend this razor, especially for the price.

Best razor I have ever used
Best razor I have ever used. I'm a girl, and use it for my legs, so it is a little heavy for me (I've gotten used to that for the most part), but it shaves better than anything I've ever used and I love it. Make sure to tighten it down all the way though. I read a review that said not to, and I made the mistake of doing that and cut the crap out of myself. I only very rarely cut myself mildly when using it the correct way. I wanted something that would be resistant to rust since I typically use this in the shower. So far, so good. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality razor.
