I've been getting more and more into puzzles lately, but I've mostly been doing 500 and 750 piece puzzles. This was my first 1000 piece attempt, and yes, as another reviewer pointed out, there is a lot of white.I found I had to take a different approach than usual. Most of us have been trained to start doing a puzzle by assembling the edge pieces. I was able to get the bottom edge fairly easily, because of the shadows down there, but if I had made myself complete the whole rim before moving on, I may have never done it.The good news is that there are plenty of fun distinct little sections to look for. If you're tired of looking for a specific white piece amongst a big pile of white pieces, you can try to find the deer, or the little elephant in the middle and so on. Even when it comes down to the all white pieces, this puzzle does a great job of having distinct and interesting shaped pieces, so you can hunt for a shape when there's little help from color. The pieces are on the small side, but sturdy. Some puzzle dust, but not nearly as much as I've seen in other puzzles.My only complaint is that there were a few pieces that fit perfectly in places where they actually didn't belong amongst similarly colored pieces, which threw me off on a couple of major sections.Overall, if you have the space to leave it out on a table and a bit of patience, I think this is really good puzzle investment. I worked on it for a few hours at a time throughout a week and felt majorly proud of myself when it was done.

Putting this puzzle together was truly a joy. The image quality is wonderful, and I loved the concept. However, the pieces felt very flimsy to me, and the cut was very rough - I had paper shavings everywhere. Pieces just took a wee bit more effort to click together than the higher quality puzzles I've done.Additionally, I received my puzzle with a missing piece. Oops! :< I messaged New York Puzzle Company's customer service and they were very prompt in offering me a replacement puzzle (each puzzle is cut uniquely, apparently), so that was good. I will be probably taking them up on that, I am just not looking forward to round 2 of the paper shavings. Ah well.4 stars for overall enjoyment and beautiful image, but for the price, the quality could have been better.

I love a challenge when it comes to jigsaw puzzles and this one was so much fun. I completed the border and then started on the colored areas. Actually, it was easier than I thought it would be. Would recommend for anyone who like a bit of a challenge when it come to a jigsaw puzzle.

A very challenging puzzle. BUT, a piece was missing. Of course, I can't be 100% sure that I didn't loose it, but this makes three out of 23 reviews that mention missing pieces. So, I will not be purchasing another New York Puzzle Company puzzle. You have been warned, the purchase decision is yours.
