There isn't a better quality watercolor block commercially available. Just buy it.
Arches is THE best watercolor paper commercially available out there. Every artist drools over this paper. Once you use it you'll be bummed to have to use anything else(I guess that's the downside- it's hard to settle once you've had top notch, and it's expensive as hell).The hot press is so smooth, this is the only thick, durable watercolor paper I've used that is truly, impressively smooth. The pad of paper can be used as a block- they're gelled together on all edges so you can use the paper without having to butchers-tape it onto your easel, which makes it quite portable! Cut it out with a knife when you're done. The paper is pre-treated with gel for amazing texture, and its pure cotton fabric means it can handle a lot of back and forth strokes without ripping.What are you waiting for?!
