Tales of Ancient Egypt (Puffin Classics)

This book takes what can be a complex subject and makes it understandable. It is easy to read and has a great glossary. It effectively ties in Greek and Egyptian histories that is so easy to grasp. I have read multitudes of books regarding the three divisions of the soul but they have always been written in language and terms difficult/impossible to comprehend-this books solves that problem. There are many, under different names, "Bible" stories except these "myths" were written long before the Bible was even thought of-certainly food for thought. The old stories were great-the Egyptian time line was so easy to understand-well written! One can draw their own conclusions as to the similarities of RA and the God of the New Testament; Set and the god of the Old Testament. There is much to review and ponder here-GREAT work. So easy to read and comprehend.

These stories made my trip to Egypt come alive. They were interesting, well-written and easy to read. A story a night fit right into our busy touring days

While I personally found the book to be incredibly interesting, my 5th grade daughter did not. I am a history buff so it held my attention while we read it for a homeschool unit on Ancient Egypt. Her attention wandered though. The book is well written and filled with history but it may be too in depth of a topic for some kids. To break it up a bit, we combined it with other activities and books that she was more interested in.With that said, it did what I intended it to do. She learned and as a homeschool mom, I can't ask for much more than that.

This book really can be read by anyone I felt as if I were in the stories and not just imagining them You really get to go in the adventures as the gods and there subjects. Truly enjoyable read to start the year

For 40 years a gentle nagging for personal research continues. It always brings me back to Egypt and Mesopotamia. The story of the "Book of Thoth" persuaded me to purchase the Ebook. I found the tales delightful and the author has provided such curiosities that I continue to research cities, deities, and rituals.I am sorry to say I'm not able to stimulate anyone else with this subject matter, but I am so thankful to you for enriching my journey.

Talk alot about how current religion is form ancient egypt. The stores are slow hard to get into. I read the first half of the book. It's been on the book self sence the second day I owned it. If you have read any history books you know what is in this book save your money!

This is a nice book of tales that came from ancient Egypt. It's divided into 3 sections - the Gods, tales of magic, and tales of Adventures. I think this book is a good way to explain to kids how ancient Egyptians viewed life. It's much like the mythology books about other ancient cultures, and it is interesting to see traces of our tales within those very old stories.Well written, and well explained.

This book is definitely aimed towards children in the way its written. But I got a ton of enjoyment out of it even as an adult. The stories are unique in the context of ancient civilizations, the Egyptians definitely viewed things a bit differently than just about anyone else. After reading this I grabbed a couple of the other Puffin compilation books, Norse myths and Greek myths, I'm looking forward to reading those as well :).

It has a name written inside but is otherwise immaculate. Barely a create in the spine. Excellent quality 2nd hand.The tales are retelling of classics, with good historical context & suggestions for follow-up activities too. Perhaps best suited to teachers rather than pupils.

This book turned out to be a surprise, and a good surprise. The tales are amazing. Was a very good find.

I absolutely loved this book, the tales are in chronological order, includes tales of the gods, magic and tales of adventure of ancient Egypt.The book also has a line time of the tales, a glossary and extra information.

I read this to our 7-year-old each night as she's brushing her teeth. She's crazy about ancient Egypt, and the stories here hit the spot -- accurate (for the time), direct sources where possible, a few photos, but mostly just good well-told history. Plus of course it's quite inexpensive.

Wenn man sich für das alte Ägypten interessiert, sollte man auch dessen Geschichten kennen. Das Buch schlägt eine Brücke zu der Denkweise der alten Ägypter. Einige Geschichten sind bekannt, aber man findet auch immer wieder was Neues.
