State Birds and Flowers Coloring Book

I bought this coloring book to use with my homeschooling curriculum. The pictures are beautiful and my kids enjoy them.

Love it. I am working on the last 10 pictures as quickly as possible. I am going to give them to my great nephew so that he can do a show and tell in his class at school. He's only 5 and is so excited I copied & colored them on white stock card trimmed the edges then put them on assorted colored stock then in sheet protectors and in a notebook. His presentation will be wonderful. The pictures are beautiful. He gets to keep the book that i colored for him and the book to color himself, he can hardly wait. The smile on his face and the excitement about doing this presentation in front of his classmates is well worth the hours of time I have invested in it. My only complaint is that there is a picture on both sides of the page. so using certain art supplies such as markers or water color in the book is out of the question, both of these will bleed though.

I got 7 of these books and love coloring them. You can get really creative. I don't have an artist's talent, so I enjoy creating my own color combinations, although there are colored pictures of all of them on the covers so you can follow those or come up with your own. These aren't not kids coloring books! They are more detailed, and I use colored pencils on some, fine point gel pens on others and a wide range of felt tip colors on most. I usually do these in the evening when I need to wind down and they work wonders for me. Even without artistic talent, I love my renderings. This books is so educational and while they are published for adults, they're a great gift for kids who have some advanced coloring skills. You lean the state birds and flowers so well and with very little effort, no memorization, it just soaks in as you work with these.

I love teaching my grandchildren about the birds as we color together.

The pictures in the book are very nice and there are also pictures on the covers of what the flowers and birds look like in color as a guide. There is even a bonus page with the eagle and rose picture from the cover. The downside is that the pictures are back-to-back sheets rather than stand alone ones, which means if you like turning the pictures into presents for friends as I do you're going to have to make a copy of the reverse side. Otherwise it looks like a good pasttime.

I purchased this for my grandmother who loves to color with gel pens. She has enjoyed it and was pleased that her gel pens did not bleed through the pages.

I'm a big fan of Dover coloring books. This one did not disappoint. Beautiful illustrations of birds and flowers with lots of details. You could spend many, many hours with this coloring book if you wanted to take advantage of all of the detailed coloring areas. Many days of coloring (if not weeks!) I don't know where else you get that much entertainment value for under $4! Always fun to learn a few things in the process. The paper is good quality (clean white), not cheap newsprint that so many coloring books use. There are small colored examples on the inside covers of each of the illustrations so that you can learn what each bird and flower "should" look like-so that you can get the education out of the way and then get wild with your own creativity.

So many of these Dover coloring books are perfect for Adult or older child colouring.There was no review of this book, so I bought it on a whim. I was delighted to see colouring pages which are intricate and really appealing for an adult or older child who needs more of a colouring challenge. You can really produce some beautiful bird and flower pages here.I use colouring pencils but sometimes use felt pens just to outline. Pens can bleed through a little (despite the paper being a nice thickness) especially if dark pens but if you want to use pens or even paint, why not scan in each page, print onto card and then you can paint or use felt tips with no worry of ruining your book.There are some gorgeous birds in this book, my favourite is the Cardinal bird. What I love is that you get little thumbnails on the cover of each picture which suggests the colours you can use to get a realistic finished piece of art.Brilliant. I shall be buying many more Dover Colouring books for adult colouring fun and relaxation.

The State Birds and Flowers colouring book is absolutely fantastic: beautifully presented, containing ample descriptions and is educational in the loveliest way.

I wanted this book to use to sketch and paint in watercolor. Birds and flowers look so great together that I just had to buy this book. I am delighted at the fine details of the picture inside...they make my watercolor paintings spring to life. And the images are copyright free. Fantastic book, great for all bird lovers.

I bought this for my sister. She's 70 years old and she still loves to colour. She loved it for the clear drawings and the beautiful birds and flowers.

Awesome pictures. Easy to color and all the pictures are shown in color to give you an idea on color.
