Tri-shorts people! Minimal padding because you will swim in them! Also, sizing run large
After reading reviews, keep in mind these are Tri-shorts people! Minimal padding because you will swim in them! Also, the sizing run large. I am about 5'9" and 140 lbs. with a 29 waist and skinny legs. Stretchy shorts, the medium was too large, should have ordered the small size.

Great for cycling
I'm not a triathlete; I have only used these for cycling. Most bicycling shirts these days offer tons of padding, and I don't like that. Even the ones with minimal padding feel (to me) like I'm wearing a diaper. These shorts, however, have barely any padding, so you can run and swim in them. For me, they're perfect for just cycling. Just be aware that the sizes run a bit large. Also, I think they're overpriced most of the time, but they sometimes go on sale, and that's when I buy them. For my body (male, 5'9", 170-175 lbs), a medium is the best fit.

Thin chamomile
Pad is very light, so if you want a more cushioned ride, these are not for you. They are perfect for under cargo shorts.

Horrible chamois on these shorts
I had bought some Pearl Izumi bike shorts a while ago. They are the one with the blue chamois in the photo. The blue chamois extends well in both directions, protecting vital areas of my body. The new pair of shorts, with the black chamois, was of very thin fabric and the chamois does not extend as far to the front, leaving sensitive areas vulnerable to irritation and worse. I only do spin class, I can't imagine wearing them on a road bicycle. I returned them.

Good shorts
I have several pair of PI bike shorts. These are different. The material is thin and more spandex-y....it's different than the bike shorts. I used them in my first sprint triathlon. I used them in spin class prior to the triathlon and also ran in them on the treadmill. NO problems from rubbing or ill-fitting. I cannot speak to their comfort on a longer event, but they were good for my purpose.I speculate that for a longer event (Ironman) that you may want a higher-end short. however, these are perfect for my sprint event

Proven in a 24hr adventure race
I wore these for a 24hr adventure race and was pleased. I was worried my backside would get overly sore with 90+ miles of biking but faired no worse than I’d expect to in fully padded bike shorts. They held up well over 30+ miles of trekking in that race with no chaffing or discomfort. I did wear UA boxer briefs underneath as I could feel the seam of the pad against my skin without them and didn’t want to risk irritation over that distance.

Runs a bit small
I'm 5-11, 175, 33 inch waist and the Medium is a bit tight. You might want to go up a size. Also, these shorts seem to be "unisex" where it matters most, if you get my meaning. The combined effect of smallish size and lack of accommodation is somewhat uncomfortable. On the positive side, the padding is about right, neither too much nor too little for my biking purposes.

Very Poor Quality Bicycle Shorts
I have owned numerous Pearl iZUMi Men's bicycle shorts. This model is substandard because it has very little Gel or Chamois padding. I doubt these shorts will be comfortable/usable within 5 miles of a bicycle ride. I was very disappointed and immediately returned them as it was evident they would not work to my expectations.

Not conventional cycle shorts
The padding for these is thin and the elastic is really stretchy - probably better as undershorts. Disappointed because they cost more than they deliver and previous Pearl Izumi purchases have been excellent.

Not what I was expecting
The sizing was way too small and the padding was less than expected
