Magnetic Poetry - Kid Genius Kit - Ages 5 and Up - Words for Refrigerator - Write Poems and Letters on The Fridge - Made in The USA

These are great little magnets - we use them on our metal mudroom door, since they don't stick to our stainless steel fridge. The kids like to play around with making, clever, funny sayings and sentences while they're waiting around in the mudroom for us to go out somewhere. We have 3 different sets. Another poster said theirs didn't stick to the lid of the box for travel, but ours do, so I'm not sure what kind of a box theirs were in. Our boxes were metal as pictured, and worked fine, although you probably can't put a ton of magnets on the lid, but enough to have some silly fun with. For a child learning to read and assemble sentences, I think it would be a great learning and travel tool, and there would be plenty of space on the lid for that type of situation. These little guys can be so much fun that your kids won't know they are learning more about communicating and thinking more creatively - probably subconsciously learning to spell better in the process. Another set we have has synonyms - one side has an easier word, the other other side has a more difficult word with the same meaning (for my 12 year old), so kidscan even increase their vocabularies this way. In my opinion, it's a different, fun way to learn and keep busy.

We use this to help our first grader expand her vocabulary. She's an advanced reader, so it may not be appropriate for all 6 year olds. She really enjoys making sentences and building stories. Our five year old is an average reader and the game doesn't hold her interest. In general, if you have a child who doesn't like to read or write, this activity probably won't change their mind. But for those youngsters who enjoy reading and creative writing, this game is a hit.

The media could not be loaded.  I wish wish things like this came with a permanent package to keep them in. A cardboard box is bound to get ruined eventually.The words are not particularly kid friendly but a nice variety. I would have expected more verbs and more fun words.Still, my 6 & 7 year olds enjoy putting phrases together and it's a great replacement for alphabet fridge magnets from toddlerhood. My 6 year old wrote this poem the first morning! "I am a dream that can always fly to you"It's wonderful each word has a synonym on each side so now the kids visually understand and explore word choice options.

These are so much fun! My 8-year old and I have spent hours making silly stories and poems on our refrigerator. We have other sets that we've combined with this one to give us a larger selection of words, but having synonyms on the back has definitely added a bit of flair to our creations. I recommend these products to anyone - young and old alike!

Excellent packaging, excellent word choices and the alternative/more advanced words on the reverse side is a perfect learning tool. I use this as a platform for various games when I teach my ESL classes. Combine this kit with the Original magnetic poetry set and you're all set. Highly recommended for anyone to have on their home fridge or to use as a teaching aid.

My granddaughter was having a hard time finding the fun in reading. Because there are 'easy' words and their synonyms printed on the same magnet, it is both fun to play with and appropriate for all reading levels.

This is fun but mainly for the adult siblings in the house. No poetry yet because they are busy making annoying sentences. I tried a poem (not easy!) but they stole my words! And the children- well they try (and enjoy finding words and turning over to use the synonyms ) again, sentences but no poems!The grown ups use it most, 4,6 and 7 year olds next. Teenagers ... not at all! But they seem to enjoy watching the verbal battles of their elders!I personally need more words!
