Fresh Water Aquarium Use
I found this gravel to be a perfect match with the inch or two of pool sand in my planted guppy aquarium, also the pieces are big enough for fry to shelter among. Blending the 15 lb bag with my 1-2" deep sand bed made for a nice 3" deep substrate that breaths well and looks great for my plants to thrive in for a much longer time.I was concerned about a review I read that said it needed 6-7 rinses and grass and dirt were found in it, so I scooped out about 4 Cups of gravel at a time and rinsed in my kitchen colander before adding to my aquarium. I found a scant amount of dust, but not even enough to collect in the bage it came in, and this rinsed off instantly. So I would say this was an exceptionally clean product and for my purposes it couldn't have been a better option! A great planted tank option that blends well with natural collared light sand. One consideration I would have is that the crevises are large enough for uneaten fish food to be lost in there...so shrimp/ fry/ snails and very lightly feeding or floating food will be some considerations to take with this aquarium substrate. I would say that the size of each gravel piece is the size of half a pea, from the super tiny pea half sizes to the regular frozen pea type sizes -1/2 of that, I would say each piece of gravel is the size of nerds candy if you grouped those pieces into groups of 3...each group of 3 would be about the size of one of these pieces of gravel. I hope that helps, I don't want to measure.

Worked great for water softener!
I used this for the gravel base in my water softener resin tank during a tune-up. It was the perfect amount for a 9 inch diameter tank and covered the filter before covering with new resin beads. You will need to wash it in a 5 gallon bucket about 10 times before the water runs clear.

Good product but A bit dirty. Needs 6-7 rinses
Worked well packing in my riser tube basket. My only beef is I had to rinse the garnet stones 6-7 times. Significant amounts of debris like dried grass blades, leaf bits that could partially clog the basket veins.

great
I used this for my fish tank but I had to rinse them cant complain. They look great for fish tanks if your looking for a natural look instead of tank pebbles

Rocks for your water softener tank...
Rinsed these and filled the bottom of my water softener tank with them... they served their purpose.
