Spare Parts Kit
This is more a spare parts kit. I bought this kit after reading the stellar reviews, but was quickly let down. First, I tried to tie several BASIC flies and the kit ingredients were not helpful. Secondly, there is no thread included. A starter kit should have at least one spool of 6/0 or 8/0 black or white thread included. Thirdly, NO hooks! Seriously? How can a starter kit not include hooks.I quickly learned that I was going to have to buy much of my own ‘starter’ materials. For approximately $29.00 I went out and bought enough materials to tie several basic flies. Finally, I did not like the fact that the company literature says (not exact) ‘if you are not happy, please contact us before writing a negative review’. Umm, no. Save your money and go buy your own starter materials. I made a list of several basic flies I wanted to learn and went and got the materials.

Include fly patterns for us new to Fly Fishing
Recently started fly tying and I purchased this kit so I could work on tying skills. I liked the variety, hooks, thread. This kit has a lot of potential, I would have given a 5 star rating if included list of all fly pattern variants you can make. There's another company that makes fly pattern kits but quite expensive for what you actually get. Why I think this fly tying kit has a lot of potential. Adding a simple list of patterns you can make would be awesome!

Lots of stuff- no tools
A nice assortment of materials to get you started, I did have to get a few extras for specific flies I wanted to make. Also, this doesn’t include any tools. You’ll have to get those separately, but you get to pick out the ones you want.
