No, the leg loops are not in the way. You may use it with or without using the lug loops.

What is the recommended weight limit?

The belt fits up to a 55" waist. Not sure what that equates to in body weight. I wouldn't try to support someone by myself if the weighed significantly more than I did.

What is the widest adjusted leg size?

The straps are long enough to expand to fit very large people. We had to tuck them inside the belt because they were so long. This belt was better than anything they had in the nursing home and has lots of loops for purchase.

What is the smallest waist it will fit?

This belt is adjustable to at least a 26 inch waist, because it was used for myself and I was a 26" waist at the time. I believe it can adjust smaller than that.
