Disappointing read
This is not what I'd call a "lively" read - it was actually frustrating. The narrative is full of domestic details but very disjointed, and I can't get a sense of Undset at all. My purpose in getting the book was to learn more about her and the writing of Kristin Lavransdatter, but I found little to really interest me, and gave up halfway through.

This is a captivating read!
I've read Sigrid Undset's Trilogy plus other things she's written--and I found this story of her life, and her children's lives, during war years to be more than interesting. The many photos helped bring her home and family to life.

Only facts, no meaning
I expect from a biographer that s/he gives possible sense-making routes for the life of their subject. This 'biography' felt more like a documentary enumerating facts about her life. I never met Undset.
